Friday's

I still say I came up with the idea for the Jack Daniel's burger. When they first came out with the Jack Daniel's stuff like years ago, I said to the waiter, they should have this sauce on the burgers. But like I said before, that commercial they have where the whole family is separately at Friday's just bugs the hell out of me. Its like the dad is there drinking at the bar and having a good time, then he sees his wife and goes over all pissy. It always makes me think while he may not be a physically abusive alcoholic, he might be one of those borderline alcoholic who's just a real asshole to his family. I mean, his wife looks all "uh-oh" when she first sees him and he's acting all, "what the hell are you doing here, woman, why aren't you back home taking care of my kids?" Excuse her for having a good time, she didn't know only you were allowed to do that. Of course, I'm obviously reading too much into the commercial.

Speaking of drunk assholes. caught the end of Sling Blade when I came into work today. It seems like a very interesting movie. That ending is so cool and funny and macabre. I mean, you know where he's coming from and why he does what he does, but that whole matter-of-factness about it when he kills the drunk ass is hysterical. That and the guy being so drunk off his ass that he doesn't know what was going on either. Tell them to send over an ambulance or a "hearst." Ha! And what's with southerners always "fixin'" to do things?

And what's the name of that song they play during that Honda commercial advertising that their Civic coupe has the side air bags and is five star safety rated but its a scene with a guy smashing cymbals and all sorts of people and things also getting smashed up. You know, has a stringy mediterranian sound? I think they play it in Snatch during the scene where what's his face with Jason Statham tosses the milk out the window, causing hilarity to ensue in a Seinfeldian manner?

Hmm, is that that "100 Years" song by that Five for Fighting guy in the commercial for Spanglish? I couldn't stand that song, maybe because they'd play it over and over again on the radio when I was stuck in Manila traffic back in February. But in the commercial, it doesn't seem so bad for some reason.
