Apparently, the terrorists were able to disconnect the transponder, making the planes harder to track. They prolly knew their shit. And it makes sense now why they chose East Coast to West Coast flights. More fuel, bigger explosion. The engineers say all that fuel caused a fire hot enough to melt the steel structure and hasten the collapse of the WTCs.

Hand to hand combat
Sep. 12th, 2001 12:21 amSo they took over the plane with knives. Why is that so hard to believe? A weapon is a weapon. A knife can kill as easily as a gun. You say you'll rush them now, but what about when you're actually in that sitch? Who knows, mebbe you'd be gutsy enough to do it. But some people can second guess
themselves. What if they have a bomb? What if there's another assailant that you don't know about? Do they really only have a knife? What if you fail, and someone else gets killed in the process?
Let's say you don't have the above doubts, if you and some other guys bum-rush the guy, you can take him down, right? Who will be the first to go though? Most people want someone else to take the lead, that way the responsibilty isn't on them. And I can say from experience that even in a large crowd that people will stand idly by and do nothing while a couple of UNARMED thugs beat up some poor schmuck. Or maybe these would be heroes were waiting for the right moment, for the assailant to be distracted. They didn't know they couldn't play the waiting game, that these terrorists weren't planning to hold the plane hostage, they were gonna make a suicide run.
We just don't have enough facts to say "If only there were brave guys who overtook the terrorists". Maybe there were, and they failed, or they grabbed a hostage and put a knife against their throat. There's just too many unknowns at this time.

It really sucks when you can't get in touch with your family. I already confirmed they are okay, but it would be nice to be able to check in on
them. I was able to get a hold of my mom before they started evacuating this morning. She told me my dad was okay (he works in that smoky area) and was trying desperately to get home. Of course, the whole experience was unnerving, I had the shakes for an hour. I mean, its been one of my worst damn nightmares since I was a kid. My whole extended family works in Manhattan. And obviously, NYC and particularly Manhattan is one of the most lucrative targets in the world. If I die, whatever, but I couldn't deal with my family getting wiped out like that. That's why I really hate terrorism. Did my family or I do anything personally to you? Just because I was born in
America and adopted its ways we're targets? Fuck you.
I've tried checking in again, but all the lines are busy. I had to call my cuz in Long Island to confirm everyone in my family was okay. And even
then I didn't get any real details, I had to check on her online journal to know what happenned. My dad was part of that smoky exodus, he had trouble breathing so he bought a mask and eventually hitched a ride home. And all my other relatives made it back all right.
