Sep. 11th, 2001 12:35 amAnother week on the job. Haven't had a chance to update since I was at work last, since this is the first time I've really been able to be in front of a computer since the last time I was at work. Anyways, since Jason cancelled on us so he could party with some hotties (or mebbe he didn't, since he did sound really sick Saturday morning) we had to come up with some new plans. Ended up seeing the Musketeer. It was okay, the fight scenes weren't as spectacular as they purport themselves to be. But there were some pretty funny moments. Then we ate at the IHOP and saw Brother. Its a limited release movie that didn't have any commercials for since its considered artsy. It was somewhat artsy for what is essentially one of those crime family movies. I guess there is some stuff we missed because they were playing up all these Japanese traditions and views of honor. This one part, these yakuza were eating dinner, and one of the guys remarked how some other guy is an outsider and they can't see inside of him. So he's insulted and is all, "You wanna see inside of me?" Then he disembowels himself to prove his loyalty! Jeez, I don't know if they are really that hard core in real life, but I know I'm not gonna disembowel myself just to show up some guy who insulted me. Anyways, the boss says the guy who made the insult dishonored the dinner by making the insult that made the other guy disembowel himself so the insulter had to cut one of his fingers off. Anyways, the movie is very, very violent. It starts off with some yak whose family was disbanded coming to America and hooking up with his younger brother who is a small time drug-pusher. Anyways, they brutally slaughter their opponents and make their own crime syndicate, but then the mafia said they want half so they decide to go to war and that leads to even more bloodshed. A lot of cold-blooded killers in that movie.
Saw Band of Brothers Sunday night. Twas okay. The training part was a little slow, and it was weird to see Ross from Friends trying to be some hard-ass prick. Once they got into the thick of it, it was kinda cool. Though I'm having trouble telling who's who. I know there's the two lts, one of whom was the guy in Office Space, then one of the sgts is Marky Mark's bro. Then there's the guy who's brother was killed, and that Malarky guy who was talking to the Nazi from America. I'm not sure if he's also the guy who does the different voices. Its like I could pick out who they were, but when they were assaulting those gun emplacements, I was all, "Who the hell are these other guys?!" I know they had some guy from another company. (Was he Cowboy?) Its just frustrating trying to keep up since they have so many guys. I know their unit also includes Lazz from USA High and that big jock guy from 90210, but I couldn't pick anyone else out of a line up.
Today I took my car for normal maintenance. I still need to get my tires rotated. w00ter told me his monitor was blown before I left, but he was gone when I came back, so I don't know what he was gonna do about it. I saw him post from home, so mebbe it works now. Scott also left soon after I came back. He was going to have dinner with Holli since she was about to go to NY (for free! Cool!)
If I had more money I suppose I'd visit NY more. I feel guilty that I only see the family prolly a total of two weeks a year.
But with both of them gone, I was stuck home alone. Watched some Friends, tried to get some S rankings in RE:CVX Battle Games. I just can't do Claire's fast enough. I guess you have to just not stop for anything. Which I can do, I just need to shave 20 seconds off my time. Same goes for Chris's game. I almost had it, I just have to kill flying Alexia quicker by learning how to hit more consistently. Wesker's game is impossible. I'm just no good with the knife. I know there are crazies out there who can beat the other RE games with only the knife(!). I'm skeptical. Then I watched half of RAW (Stacy Kiebler is totally babealicious!) and headed to work.
Dropped my food off in the fridge and then headed to the student center to try Tekken 4 since w00t-boy said they had it there. At first I didn't see it because it wasn't with the other machines so I thought he was a fool. But after playing a game of Silent Scope 2 I noticed it by the entrance. I tried it out, even though its a gyp at $1 a game! And the first time I tried it, I used the side with the screwed up buttons. I only tried Jin Kazama. They changed a number of his moves around. I'll wait for it to be more established and people put out complete FAQs on the internet. Though I think I use too many fancy moves. That's what gets me into trouble against certain opponents. I try to be too fancy when the best thing to do is a simple punch or kick.
Which brings us to work. The other people on shift are here for a change. How fortuitous!
