TV commentary:

Better Call Saul- Hmm, interesting end to the season! Heh, that Lalo guy is crazy, killing some poor rando in his quest to figure out what Gus is doing. Also, that's pretty shitty security if someone can just climb into the ceiling to get around the locked door and presumably bulletproof glass.

But he does manage to talk to Werner, but doesn't get useful information before Mike finds Werner. Unfortunately, that's one mistake too many, and Gus makes it clear Werner is dunzo. Mike tries to convince Gus he doesn't have to do it, but when its clear he won't be swayed, Mike says he'll take care of it. I was wondering why he didn't just quickly do it, not let Werner know what hit him, but I guess he was trying to make sure Werner's wife wasn't also killed.

So, he gets Werner to call his wife and send her home, and then Mike tell's Werner she'll learn he had a fatal accident, but she'll get all the money he made, so she'll be fine. It is pretty sad though, the dude just wanted to see his wife! But I dunno what he was thinking, that someone obviously shady would let bygones be bygones.

Anyways, as for the titular character, he and Kim and the film students are pulling off some tricks to make Jimmy seem more sincere. Only, the straw that breaks that camel's back is when he's sitting in a meeting to award scholarships. There's a girl who has a record, who Jimmy goes to bat for, but even his speech of her just trying to get a chance to turn her life around falls on deaf ears. I mean, Hamlin humors him all, sure, let's give her another consideration. But it doesn't matter.

Jimmy goes to the girl after and breaks the news to her, that she didn't get it, and "those people" will never let her get it. At this point, he's speaking as much to himself as to her, advising her to do whatever it takes to come up on top, because the system is rigged against them. And then he breaks down in his car afterward.

It was kinda weird, but I guess before this, he legitimately did want to be the kinda lawyer who would have Chuck's respect. Last week, when he was telling Kim she still sees him as slippin' Jimmy, it seems a lot of that was his own view of himself. And if this poor girl, who is a mere youth with a whole life ahead of her to try and be good and respected already has the walls thrown in front of her, what hope does he, who he himself believes is a slimy con-man, have?

And so, in the appeals meeting, he gives this heartfelt speech- he was going to read a recommendation letter from Chuck at first, but in the middle he says he was just doing that to be manipulative, but he's being for real now! He will do his best to be a lawyer worthy of the Mcgill name. Kim is so beaming and proud!

And it all comes crashing down after, when Jimmy is all, "Woah, I was on fire with the conning!" Like she's gobsmacked! She thought he was for real, but nope, he's fully embraced the dark side now. He freely admits he totally manipulated the committee. Which, maybe don't be shouting that in the middle of the lobby. Also, it cracks me up that he also immediately gets a name change form. Like, wouldn't the committee be all, "WTF?!" afterwards if he talked about being worthy of his brother's name, then immediately changing his name once they reinstate him.

Its interesting, because when she pulled off the Huell con, it seemed like maybe she might be pulled to the dark side. Last week she was back on the fence, wanting to only do stuff like that for good. But wow, that look of shock at the end though, I think they're past the point of no return, the relationship is truly broken. Which is prolly best for her, knowing what we know from Breaking Bad.
