Elementary- Well, that's an odd new development! So Joan has a half sister? Sure, why not? But ha, since she first claimed to be a "friend" of Mycroft, its not surprising for one to start wondering if he had the yellow fever. So it was hilarious when Lin actually brought it up when she pretended to figure out Joan had dated him as well and was all, "Wait, you don't think he had a thing for...?"! Heh.
But yeah, it was a little weird, because half way through the ep, the dynamic between Lin and Joan changed, and it became obviously sisterly. Like when she was going through Joan's closet and borrowing her clothes, at that point the interaction seemed to scream sister. I mean, Lin's behavior didn't seem as off as Joan was claiming, but once the NSA thing happened, it was jarring how they suddenly swung that direction.
Also weird- Sherlock telling Joan she was developing a cold. Because yeah, there were parts were she was obviously sick. Now, was Lucy Liu acting sick for some reason, or did she develop a cold during filming that clearly affected her voice, so they added in scenes earlier where Sherlock asks if she was sick?
The second case, heh, I like that they bothered to answer that question. Because when they saw DA (or was it only ADA?) lady's wife, they had mentioned the kids being at school. When it was clear both their moms were up for murder, I lamented, "But what will become of the kids?" So it was a nice touch that they say they had loving grandparents who would take care of them when their moms were put away for murders.
