TV commentary:
Better Call Saul- So obviously this show is supposed to be about Jimmy's journey to becoming Saul Goodman. But it also seems to be showing us how Mike became who he is. Which is fine, though it does make for some weird narrative. I mean, obviously, I wanna to see how things turn out for Jimmy and Kim. Like, you want to root for their success, but at the same time, you have to be suspicious it won't work, given in the future Jimmy is practicing as Saul Goodman and Kim is nowhere to be seen.
But at the same time, right now it seems like small potatoes compared to Mike's issues with the Salamancos- I mean, obviously we know Mike and his granddaughter will be fine (we can't say for sure her mom is though since we never actually saw her on Breaking Bad, the granddaughter could be with someone else in the future, Mike being unable to be her guardian for some reason). But messing with drug dealers is higher stakes than whether Kim and Saul's law firm(s) will succeed.
And its funny, because Mike's thing is life or death, but it doesn't feel as pressing because we have a better idea how it turns out, whereas seeing how the Mesa Verde thing pans out does leave one at the edge of their seat because that actually is new territory.
I mean, Kim deserves to succeed, and she gave a hell of a presentation and I think she can back it up. Obviously you can't blame Hamlin for trying to keep Mesa Verde, though it does kinda make him a two face to kiss Kim's ass and then not let her have this. And I get Chuck distrusts Jimmy, but it seems pretty dickish of him to gaslight Kim just to get back at his brother. Like it really sucks for her that she's ended up as a pawn in some feud between the Mcgills.
Kim prolly won't be pleased at Jimmy's stunt on his brother, though it was pretty satisfying to think about Chuck having the wrong info, because as I said, he was kinda a smug prick in his meeting to poach (well, keep) Mesa Verde.
