Gotham- Interesting. So we finally sort of know Galavan's deal. I think some people were suspecting Court of Owls, maybe even League of Assassins. But apparently he's with the Order of St Dumas. And hey, chick Firefly. That's kinda cool.
Faking It- Funny, given my comments on last week's Finding Carter. Lauren and Theo break up. Lauren is the kinda girl who wants the "typical" high school experience. She had a great experience on the dance floor with her fake date, but ultimately it sucked for her because it wasn't with her real boyfriend. Also, she spent most of her life hiding who she is, and she's tired of it.
Theo is all, they just need to wait two years. And I know I said a year wasn't that long last week for Finding Carter, but here, regarding teenage relationships, 2 years is like freaking forever. He's worried about his job (hey, maybe don't date jailbait then), but if she sticks with him, she'll be robbed of two years of HS experiences, and that's not fair to her. If two years really is no big deal, then why don't they take a break, let Lauren have her life, and revisit things after she graduates. If its meant to be, they'll fall back in love.
And uh-oh, looks like Shane, Karma, and Wade end up having their threesome, mainly because the former two don't back down because of other issues sending them over the edge. For Shane, it was the feeling of betrayal upon seeing Liam kissing his sister. Karma claims its because everyone else seems to be happy and moving on, and she wants a win. She did see the Liam/Sasha kiss, but its interesting that what sent her over the edge was seeing Amy and Felix kiss. She acted like what she was upset with was Amy was kissing Felix and giving him hope. She's all, Felix is her friend, and she doesn't want to see him hurt. Bullshit! She hardly knows the guy. There's definitely jealousy on Karma's end.
Also, what's up with the refusal of the show to have Amy be possibly Bi? I mean, the writers tweet that Shane's comments last week about there being no such thing as bi-sexual and that Wade is just gay and hasn't fully accepted it yet is totally wrong and Shane is supposed to be an idiot for thinking that. So the writers do seem to be aware that bisexuality is a thing. But when it comes to Amy, everyone acts all confused like, hmm, Amy you seem to like girls and boys. What does this mean? If only there were a term for it! WTF?!
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend- Its unfortunate this show isn't do so well. Or at least I assume it isn't. I mean, the rating for the premiere weren't so hot. And like I don't see anything in the tumblr tags, which isn't a true gauge of a show's popularity, though for a show like this, who's audience is more likely a tumblr user than not, its not promising that people don't comment or make gif sets or what have you.
I mean, its not the best new show of the season, but its amusing enough. Like, the musical numbers could be better. But I just mostly see complaints for people who haven't even seen the show angry at the premise. It makes them think Felicity, and a girl with a promising future giving it up to follow some guy to NY. (Heh, actually, I guess its the opposite, with a girl following some dude to Cali from NYC). Not that Felicity was a bad show, but I do think its a premise that people find problematic. But I digress. So they think its same old, same old, that happiness is some dude.
Which I don't think is the case at all. I mean, Rebecca is kidding herself if she thinks she didn't go to West Covina for Josh, but I don't think there's any sacrifice here. Rebecca was post-law school having graduated Harvard and Yale, about to be named partner in her firm. So yes, its kinda crazy of her to turn that down, because that's serious $$$. But honestly, it seems like its not something she really cares about.
And while West Covina is pretty much podunk compared to NYC, its not like she's throwing her education away. She's still a lawyer, but its not like there are really any negative consequences other than it not being as fancy as NY. I mean, she's obviously making less money, but if that's affecting anything, the show isn't showing it. She seems to be fine financially. Nor is she really having any job problems- she's a freaking rock star lawyer. Like even with all her shenanigans, and seemingly blowing off work to do said shenanigans, its not affecting her ability at all. Like I was thinking because she never seems to be doing work, she'd get in trouble and screw something up. But apparently lawyering is effortless to her. I mean, I'm sure part of it is being in podunk, but still.
I think overall, even though she can apparently lawyer in her sleep, it wasn't a fulfilling existence for her. So I don't think the show is having her sacrifice for Josh. It was pretty clear she was not happy at all (they gloss over her having been taken a bunch of anti-depressants), and for some reason the weird signs in the pilot made her think maybe being with Josh would change things because its the last time she remembers being happy. So I think its clear that she has deep seated issues, and that Josh isn't the solution, its just a symptom.
Oh, and what a dog he is! I thought he was just trying to avoid unnecessary drama by trying to keep Rebecca and Valencia separate. Like everything was all innocent, but he could see why Valencia might be jealous of some fancy Harvard lawyer from NYC and thus was trying to stop a confrontation from happening. I totally forgot they mentioned in the pilot about him having a girlfriend and they were on a break while he was in camp. I just didn't realize it was still the same girlfriend. So it wasn't until the end that I realized he was trying to stop his gf from finding out he sorta cheated on her back in HS.
