TV commentary:

Faking It- So this weeks shenanigans are caused by the fact that Karma's mom is still president of her PFLAG group, having not told them that her daughter had been faking the whole lesbian thing. So, she begs her daughter to pretend she's still with Amy and go to some fund raiser together. Karma is hesitant, but her dad tells her its all she has, and Amy is fine with it, and feels she owes Karma's mom because she's always been there for her.

Complicating matters are the following: 1) Karma's mom's rival is Shane's mom (which how the hell did she not know any of this stuff already?) 2) Amy invited her dad to the PFLAG event, making Farrah totally jealous because she thinks he's one upping her, and 3) Lauren is still pissed at Farrah for cheating on her dad, but Lauren's dad thinks she's acting all weird because she was upset with her father from the beauty pageant. So he takes her to the fund raiser as a way to support her.

So they all end up at the fundraiser. As do Shane and Liam, who apparently were taught by Shane's mom that the best way to get over someone is get under someone else. Classy. Also, apparently Shane has an older sister, who Liam hit on when she was 18 and he was 12. (who we find out in the end is played by Paige from PLL) So Liam ends up walking in on her naked getting out of the shower at the end of the ep back at Shane's. Meanwhile Shane does finally meet a new guy, who's parents are therapists, who's willing to let him vent about Duke.

But yeah, the fund raiser causes a lot of drama. First, Karma gets upset not only because her mom continued to lie that her daughter was still a lesbian, but has all these crazy stories about Karma being so great. So Karma is all, "Are you so ashamed of me that you have to make up stories?" But its like mother, like daughter. Its not that she's embarrassed of her, like Karma she has a need to be liked. So she was trying to make herself look good by making Karma look good. Karma lets her in on the lesson she's started to learn- if these people don't like her for the real her, then they're not worth fretting over. Due to Liam's loose lips, Shane's mom finds out the truth, so in the end Karma's mom admits everything, and how she's proud of Karma for who she is (and unfortunately says, "She'll never be a lesbian, no matter how much I wish she would be", which causes drama with Amy, but more on that later) But the P-flag folks are willing to keep her on as president.

But yeah, on to that Amy drama. So, Amy thought she could be chill and pretend. But the charade stirred up old feelings. Which were complicated by her parental stuff. So her mom was trying to one up her dad at first. But then seeing Amy's dad do all this started stirring up feelings of longing in Farrah, that he could be the husband/father she always wanted him to be. But after Karma's mom's speech, Amy saw the parallels in what was happening. So she tells her dad to leave. She applauds his effort, but she thinks its best he goes, because its messing with Farrah's head. And so he takes the job his work keeps on pestering him about. And Amy and her dad let her believe its because he's an asshole who cares more about work so she'll get over him.

Not that she gets off scot free on that. Lauren's dad is incredibly awkward at the dance. At first he keeps on just telling Lauren she's intersex without checking if she's cool with it. So they finally have a heart to heart, and he admits he didn't know how to handle her status at first. And he thought the way to protect her was to ignore all that. And that's why he thought his daughter was being weird, that she was mad at him from hiding from the truth. But he's all no more lies- which makes Lauren feel incredibly guilty.

As much as she loves her new family, she can't lie anymore. She makes Farrah tell her dad the truth. We don't see it, we see them drive off together so Farrah can break the news, with Lauren and Amy watching sadly knowing what's gonna happen.
