Nov. 6th, 2002 07:54 amBack at work. And hungry. I could sure go for some sausage and eggs. I'll have to settle for a pop tart. One thing that just occured to me with the PVR being in my room is that I can pause Gilmore Girls on Tuesday night so I can get ready for bed and waste less time after midnight. Then, I can just fast forward through the commercials. Its very time saving. With the amount of time I spend watching TV, I should have sought a career in the field. Those TWoP people seem to have a good deal. Alas, too bad I don't like my writing, and I'm not really as clever as I purport myself to be. Anyways, its time for my Tuesday TV commentary:
Ah, with 24 back in full swing, the new viewing schedule is Buffy, 24, Smallville, and Gilmore Girls.
Buffy was pretty funny. Or at least I thought so. And is it really wrong to think Dawn is hot? She's still a little snitty, even though they said they were gonna make her less whiny this season. Though it never bothered me. And what's with the catfighting? I thought she was getting somewhat better with the fighting, but you wouldn't even know from that fight with the cheerleader.
And it always seems the eps on F/X end up being kinda relevant to the ep showing the same night. Its almost like they're trying to remind you of certain things. Like a couple of the eps in s6 and s7 dealing with Willow's magic had F/X eps that same night showing Willow's foray into the magical realm from previous seasons where she makes statements that sounded innocuous back then but are strangely relevant when compared to the current season. There are other examples, but they're not springing to mind just yet. There are also amusing parallels. Like last night FX showed "Something Blue" where Willow casts that spell that makes Giles go blind and Buffy and Spike want to get married. Anyhoo, she makes this speech there where she laments Giles' and Xander's predicament, but thinks she escaped it due to her Slayer powers. Ida know, her delivery and attitude then just reminded me of the part in last night's ep where she's trying to comfort Dawn by saying she was under a spell, oblivious to the fact she was under the same influence.
Me and Krug are thinking there must be some weird time flux thing between 9 and 11. Its like 24 seems to go by quickly, whereas Smallville seems to take a hell of a lot longer. Not that its tedious, its just that 24 happens to go by noticeably quicker. Anyways, the whole Kim sitch just annoyed me. First off, she should have ran that guy's ass down. It would be self defense! No one would argue that. The wife looks like a punching bag! And then when she did get out of the car and ran, both Krug and Bill brought up, she's near a construction site. She can yell for help! C'mon, hot young chick with a little kid, those guys would be rushing to her aid! I'm wondering if the guys wanting to bomb CTU really are working with the terrorists wanting to blow up LA. I'm more thinking someone is manipulating both those groups into blowing up stuff on the same day, with the CTU bombing helping tie up resources to prevent the prevention of the other one. At the very least, its unbenownst to the group Jack is with. I can't see a bunch of angry white dudes who are angry at the government teaming up with arab terrorists. And really, that future brother in law can't be linked with the terrorist attack. I mean, if he knows of a plan to bomb LA, why would he have his wedding rehearsal there, but also fly his parents in?! Its a red herring.
And maybe once you hear about it, you just see subtext in anything, but I think the Smallville writers are being totally overt with the Clark/Lex thing. I mean, when they were in the car, what's up with that look and face touch young Clark gave young Lex? Ah, and poor Chloe. Though she can be bit of a drama queen. I mean, what's with the all "You're gonna hate me forever, right?" and "I guess we're never speaking again!" I guess they're trying to go for a defense mechanism thing where she's scared that's what he's gonna say, so she says it first. And Clark is such a bastard. He's gotta know he keeps leading her on. I mean, if he's not interested in her in that way, he should stop doing things that make her think he is interested. And yes, I just realized I'm talking about a fictional character as if they were a real person. And doesn't she just get tired of him always disappearing like that? But she looked cute all sad and crying. As did Lana. And holy crap, AoT is stacked!
I was worried with the storm that I would get signal loss on Gilmore Girls, but thankfully, I didn't. This week's was kinda humdrum. I was just annoyed with them egging Jess' car. I mean, really, what are they so mad at? Him wrecking her car was an accident. I'm sure if they asked him to pay for it, he would've. But they didn't. Its like what, just cause he wrecked her car, he's not allowed to have a car? Its more spiteful than anything. He hasn't done anything to her this whole season other than stop being interested in her. And what does she expect, she acts all interested, but its not like she leaves Dean or anything. Oh, sorry he's not a dumb faithful lapdog, you brat! And its really unfair to both guys. And yes, I realize how lame I sound right now. Anyways, it looks like things will come to a head in the Rory/Dean/Jess triangle next week. Triangles are always amusing. Well, not so amusing in real life. Okay, they're still somewhat amusing as long as you're not one of the ones in the triangle. The drama is egg-citing. Until you're pulled into it.
