TV commentary:

Vampire Diaries- A couple more comments on last night's ep. Firstly, I'm amused they named these people Qetsiyah, Silas, and Amara and have them be from Ancient Greece. Secondly, okay, I can see how Bonnie has to be a descendant of Q for her magical bloodline, but I don't think the doppelgangers need be direct descendants of Silas and Amara. People were all, did Silas and Amara have children (prior to hooking up, with other people, that is) before all this? Otherwise how could they have spawned their doppelgangers? Its magic! If they had to be direct descendants, then its hard for nature to use that method to bring balance, because what if those bloodlines are cut off? Nature wouldn't shoehorn itself like that.

Also, another interesting consequence of this whole Elena and Stefan are destined to be together thing is, what about Katherine then? She is also a doppelganger. I suppose nature would never have expected one of the doppelgangers to become a vamp and live long enough to be around the same time as another version of herself. It will be interesting to see how that plays out, because even if Elena is drawn to Stefan, he should be drawn to both her and Kat.

White Collar- Huh, are they shaking up the cast? So, in the time Peter was incarcerated, Diana got preggers, and now she's fully showing and they made sure to say she can no longer go out in the field. Are they dropping her from the show? Or did she get pregnant in real life and this is how they're giving her time off? Hopefully just the latter.

But heh, getting Peter out was easy enough, Neal and Mozzie just fake a recording from his father admitting he killed the Senator. Well, its more than that- he made the recording for Romo Lampkin/Crowley/Badger/Whatever Mark Sheppard's name is here, because he said he could get Peter out (for a price), and he needed that to do it. Looks like he has powerful people in his pocket, because the next day, the person running the hearing against Peter claims they got a recording, and it has been verified, and Peter's free to go. Neal later realizes that no way they would've just fallen for something so convenient, and Crowley paid the guy off, and the recording was a merely a prop to lend legitimacy to dropping the charges.

So Peter's free, and even better, he's getting a promotion! But, he wants to get the house in order before he leaves, make sure Neal doesn't get railroaded after he's gone.

Anyways, Crowley's price? Steal some gold coins. Of course, there's a snag, but Neal and Mozzie recover the coins under Peter's nose. Which, I find it hilarious that Neal was about to throw the coins in the tank hole out the second story window. To Mozzie! Its not like he's particularly strong or athletic. He wants him to catch a prolly relatively heavy tank full of gold from two floors up? I mean, it can't be too heavy, if Neal was just carting it around on his back, but heavy enough that would prolly hurt to catch. Also, I guess the explanation for how the tank was stored even though it was obviously heavier than the other tanks was that the incompetent probie was the one who stored them?

Owel, so we're back to trust issues again. Peter suspects Neal somehow stole the coins, but at least he knows Neal enough now that he wouldn't do it for like kicks, if he stole them, there's an important reason. Of course, its that very reasoning, that he's willing to give a former criminal the benefit of the doubt on a theft that he's too close to Neal now, well, everyone at the office is too close now. So he wants to bring in an outsider to take over once he's gone.

Anyways, the bigger issue was the theft was a ruse. Crowley only had Neal do that to get him on tape, so he can blackmail him into helping him get acquitted. So again, Neal has done something shady that makes Peter suspicious, but its for Peter, so Peter is distrustful, and Neal is sad because his friend thinks him a villain. Of course, Neal should just break the pattern and tell Peter everything. Yes, Peter will be mad because he was freed illegally (even though he was innocent in the first place), but the fact that some big wig is in the pocket of a master criminal should be something worth looking into. Though I guess in that scenario, Peter will still go back to jail.
