TV commentary:
Vampire Diaries- Heh, I was going to remark about how last week Damon and Stefan were all, "Remember that random vampire chick from 1912 we met once and never mentioned again" and all of a sudden she shows up again after 100 years, but I guess they have a reasonable explanation. I mean, Beks did mention Sage had a thing for Finn, so I guess her hearing Finn was undaggered and coming to MF looking for him makes perfect sense.
So Sage has Beks number, so she grossly gives Damon tips on how to best seduce Barbie Klaus by preying on her insecurities. Apparently Sage has mastered mind reading or something, because after Rebekah is asleep post-coitus, Sage figures out the whole thing about the new white oak tree. She promptly shares this with Damon, who looks up his family's ledgers and learns the the white oak was used to make Wickery bridge.
Unfortunately, Sage see this as a problem, because she doesn't want a weapon made that can kill Finn, her sire and "one true love". Damon is all, okay, "I promise to spare Finn if you help me to kill the Bekster." Sage figures out Damon is a lying liar who lies, and tells Rebekah, who burns all the old wood from the recently renovated bridge. Heh, when Sage was all angry saying she knew Damon was double crossing her, I thought he was just going to kill Finn anyways because he felt all originals had to die, I totally forgot about the Mikaelsons being linked.
But turns out Damon's a sneaky snake after all- there was a old sign from the bridge also made of the White Oak, that Alaric forgot to bring to the new bridge construction celebration because of all the stuff he's going through. So he lets the girls think they've won, but later, he brings the sign to his bro all cheery they have a whole bunch of white oak stakes now.
In other plots, Bonnie tries to help her mom work through her new found vampirism. But she's upset she's no longer in touch with nature. And then she almost eats Jamie. So when Bonnie is called away to help with the Alaric issue, Abby decides to be a big C and run away yet again. I mean, its one thing to just run away, but Caroline begged her not to screw her daughter over again, said she would help her through the vampire stuff. But she still ran!
I'm also annoyed they didn't address the fact that now that the gang knows Alaric is behind the killings, Caroline has no reaction at all to learning Alaric killed her dad. In any case, they do have Bonnie forgive Elena.
Anyways, it turns out Alaric doesn't need to be wearing the ring anymore for the darkness to take over. Apparently, all the dying and resurrecting has taken a toll on his mind, weakening his resolve and allowing the darkness to take over (it appears to be pissed at the council for doing a piss poor job of protecting the people). Interestingly enough, his alternate personality took pics of his kills as trophies, and even wrote a note to Jeremy to carry on his work if he should die.
Unfortunately for Elena and Stefan and Meredith, they don't realize Alaric is still possessed even though he's no longer wearing the ring. So while Stefan and Elena are searching Alaric's apartment for his old wedding ring (since one of the components needed is something of his before he put on the magic ring), Alaric's busy trying to murder Mere.
She manages to get away, mortally wounded, and luckily Stefan and Elena come back in time to subdue Alaric and save Meredith with Stefan's blood. He actually manages to show control in the face of Meredith's bleeding ass, able to heal her rather than eat her.
Secret Circle- Gotta love the fan service on this show- like Diana's shirt popping open to reveal her bra clad luscious melons. But ha, this ep was full of delicious irony! So Cassie and Adam doing it triggers a curse, which apparently causes someone in their circle to die. Amusingly enough, the one afflicted is Jake. Ha, that's hilarious! And even more funny, when John finds an elixir that can break the curse, he says they can get all the ingredients they need from Calvin, that dude who Jake killed!
Not that the ingredients were that hard to find. They get them, and make the elixir, but they learn that the elixir is not for Jake, its for Cassie and Adam, and it will make them fall out of love. They'll remember all that's happened, its just the feelings behind them will be gone. So they take it to save Jake. Only it makes Adam fall out of love but not Cassie.
And wait, there's more. Turns out the whole curse is BS, John was manipulating them to keep Adam and Cassie apart because they do have a destiny. He was the one who caused the birds to die, cursed Jake, spelled Jane to make her to claim there was a curse. Dawn and Charles figures it out, and Dawn confronts him about it, and he basically tells her to get on board, because the witch hunters are coming and they need to get together. Too bad Charles went behind their backs and is restoring Jane's memory to help take down John.
Meanwhile, Faye is dealing with Eva. She finally learns Eva killed Lee with the magic she accidentally got from the voodoo dolls. Eva tries to make Faye fix it, which Faye of course can't, because she can't resurrect people, but manages to fool Eva long enough to break the other doll, freeing Eva of all that power. And she's all, "Oh, I'm so sorry I killed Lee, I didn't mean to!" and Faye's all, "That kinda sucks, well, what can you do!"
Well, she's not that callous, but they seem to be handling the fact that the boy they both loved died kinda well.
Diana doesn't really get anything to do this ep, besides the aforementioned bra flash and being all incredulous when she finds out about Cassie and Adam doing it. Melissa doesn't get to do anything either, other than have a convo with John, which may be foreshadowing she's the other Blackwell daughter, not Faye.
