TV commentary:

Glee- Some more thoughts on last night's ep, now that I'm not distracted by the other shows I watch while trying to type this up. For one thing, I don't think the show was trying to say Kurt was at fault for what Kurofsky did. But I think its natural for the people around Dave to feel incredibly guilty and think they did something to trigger it, or didn't do something that could've prevented it. Also, people were complaining it was too sudden for Karofsky, he was being bullied for less than a week and it drives him to suicide? It wasn't just the bullying, as they revealed he's apparently had issues for a while, even if we didn't know his motivation in the beginning. They've made it clear on the show that Dave was a bully because he was a self-hater, and being outed like that is his worst nightmare come true. Add to that how alone he felt- his parents thought he could be "cured", Asimov apparently shunned him, the only person he thought he could talk to was Kurt, who wasn't returning his calls (but again, this in no way means its Kurt's fault for not talking to him), and between the first Scandals scene and the flashback Sebastian had, its clear Karofsky hadn't found anyone outside of Kurt. I mean, its a TV show, so things are generally going to be condensed, but I don't think this arc was too sudden, it was stretched out across two seasons.

That being said, I suppose the episode could've been a little too "very special episode" for people's tastes. Particularly with Sebastian deciding to stop being a dick because of what happened. It just seemed jarring and sudden. Also, it was weird for Santana to not be involved in this storyline at all. For one thing, they were each other's beards. If anyone knew what Dave was going through, its her. I mean, Kurt was out and proud. Before Santana was outed, they've had her talk about how scared she was of people finding out. And then when she was, her Abuela shunned her. Granted, Kurofsky's story has been tied in with Kurt, but I think there were obvious parallels they could have done with Santana, and like I said, its not like they were strangers.

I also think they ended up cramming a little too much in the episode. They probably could've separated Karofsky's suicide attempt from Regionals and the Finchel wedding, but I guess it did influence both those storylines. The wedding in particular, since it was moved up because "Life's too short".

In any case, after the E! poll and the past couple of episodes, I'm fully on the Faberry train. Like I've said countless times, the show makes it way too easy to read it that way. When you think about it, you could actually draw a parallel between Kurofsky's treatment of Kurt and the interactions between Rachel and Quinn in the beginning of the show. Also, Quinn drawing pornographic pictures of Rachel in the girl's bathroom- that's a weird way to make fun of someone. Or at least a weird way to make fun of someone of the same sex. And then the one drawing we do see Quinn make of Rachel in her notebook, sure, she draws Rachel all ugly. But then she also draws hearts all over it. I think blondie's confused.

And then there's the prom episode, after the prom queen debacle, they focus on three interactions- Kurt/Blaine, Brittany/Santana, and Rachel/Quinn. They threw Rachel and Quinn in with the two major gay couples on the show. And let's not forget, the thoughtful corsage Finn gave to Quinn, the one that matched her eyes, was picked out by Rachel.

Then in NY, when Santana was all, "I know what would make you feel better", Quinn's mind immediately jumped to a threesome with Brittany and Santana. She's very nonchalant about the idea of sleeping with girls.

And then this season, Quinn kept trying to reassure Rachel she got into NYADA, while Finn was all, "Owel, if you don't get in, at least you have me." Well that, and "he has nothing special going on in his life". To her face! Honestly, if Quinn was a boy, this would be a non-issue, people would totally think the writers were trying to hook "him" and Rachel up by having Quinn be the one who believes in her, and Finn being the one out of touch with his girlfriend, not taking into account her dreams and desires.

And heh, Rachel's parents couldn't stall the wedding, nor could her Broadway dreams (ridiculous!), but the one thing that did was Quinn not being there. If any episode could be read as the two of them being secretly in love, its last night's.

And the new arc even lends itself to a Rachel/Quinn pairing, with the tragic accident leading them to re-evaluate their lives and realize they're feelings for each other. Heh, according to my sources, this accident will cause Quinn to "realize who she wants to spend her life with". However, I'm pretty sure its not Rachel, but it would be totally awesome and hilarious if the show did go that direction. But I'm sure there'll be some convoluted reason for her to fall for one of the other guys on the show. Because as much as I would be thrilled for Rachel and Quinn together, its a crackship.

Then again, I thought Robin and Barney on HIMYM, Jeff and Annie on Community, and Dan and Blair on Gossip Girl, hell even Pacey and Joey on DC were crackships early in those show's runs, and look what happened with all of those!

Oh, and I forgot, it really sucks we'll have to wait 6 friggin weeks to find out what happens.
