TV commentary:
Glee- Man, what an emotional episode! So the rumored death was Sue's sister, Jean. Since the songs are leaked early, that's when I figured the club's beautiful rendition of "Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka was gonna be in the funeral and it was gonna be all emotional. And I wasn't wrong. Between Sue being unable to finish her speech and Will having to finish it, and the kids doing that song, anyone who kept their eyes during that scene is a frakkin' robot!
But really Finn?! Dumping Quinn right after a funeral? I mean, I get he got an epiphany from all that, but he could've waited for a less crass time to do it. Of course, Quinn wasn't helping her case when she went into the whole crazy prom king and queen thing again. It makes it look like she doesn't care about him at all and just wants his image. And now she's gonna possibly do something bad at Nationals.
And what the hell? During Rach's solo, she really imagined Finn? Ugh. Both Quinn and Rach need to get over that loser and not get hung up on someone who continually jerks them both around.
Speaking of solos, this was actually a plot-light ep. Besides the Jean stuff, we get four full solos from Rachel, Santana, Mercedes, and Kurt. And they were all pretty good. Of course, Jesse is Team Rachel, and backs her for getting the solo. (Is it me, or does she has the cutest excited laugh?!) But Will puts his foot down and stops things before the groups gets ripped apart.
Truthfully though, Jessie actually did have legitimate criticisms, though it was obvious he was playing favorites. At the very least, I do not think he's trying to sabotage ND. I think he legitimately wants them to win, and hence him trying to adapt VA's techniques to them.
Also, I understand the Broadway thing can be a big chance for Will, but seriously Emma, lay off! Its his dream, he's the one who knows whether Broadway is still what he truly he wants, or whether he wants to stay in Lima and continue to guide the kids! I mean, she shouldn't be so insistent!
Oh, and ha was Terri moving to Miami a Nip/Tuck reference? I mean, it would have to, given that was also a Ryan Murphy show.
Make It or Break It- Ah, so we learn more about Kelly Parker this week. Her mom is kinda a bitch? And I don't think Kelly's heart to heart with Kaylie was fake, I think her feelings were legitimate. But given how twisted her mom has her, I think she saw an opportunity to get back in her mom's good graces and took it.
But honestly, what's with the girls on this show being so oblivious? I mean, there's Lauren's creepy obsession with her dad and Summer getting married as soon as possible even though its clear neither of them are actually that into it. But at least you can chalk that up to her mom's issues.
But Kaylie thinking Austin sees her as his little sister? As Austin said, that's definitely not the case!
At least Payson realized that Max actually does like her, but she doesn't want to get with him and have it screw up her gymnastics given all the drama the other girls have been through. Not sure what some of the forum people are saying about Max being some kinda player. He was pretty up front about Lauren. And he even practically asked Payson for her permission- he was willing to wait for her if she wanted, but she made it clear that it would never happen, so he moved on.
Interesting, with Emily gone currently, Chloe has no real place on the show anymore. Unless that scene with her and Summer is an indication that they'll revisit the Chloe/Steve thing. That's not a bad thing in my book.

Date: 2011-05-18 02:41 pm (UTC)But yeah, I think Jesse was always supposed to be a douche. As a love interest, he's terrible, since he's kinda a cocky prick, and who wants to see the female lead end up with such a guy. But his douchey-ness is occasionally amusing.
I wouldn't say Britney didn't like him much. I mean, when they first visited the whole Artie/Britney thing, it was he who dumped her after Santana messed with his head. Of course, a few eps later, they made it that he was the one trying to win her back for some reason. I think she does like him- given she's supposedly been with almost everyone in school, it seems like she's stuck with him the longest.
Or are you saying she doesn't like him much because if she did she wouldn't be messing around with Santana as well? I don't want to say she thinks that's fine because she's dumb and she fell for Santana's whole "its not cheating on Artie because Santana is a girl" thing, because I think there are people out there who do think of sexuality that way, that its not cheating on your het partner if its with a same sex person.
So I think she likes him enough that she didn't want to break up with him just because Santana said to, she didn't want to hurt him like that. I'm fine with her breaking up with him because he called her stupid, because she was really hurt by that. But its silly that he's doing all the groveling when they both did some things- him calling her dumb, and her screwing around with Santana. Though they act like the latter is totally fine!
But yeah, the writers do have a lot of people being unforgiving for no good reason. Finn is the prime example of that, being mr ultra hypocrite- he breaks up with Rachel for kinda cheating on him with Puck, even though he cheated on Quinn with Rachel the previous year. And not only that, he had Quinn cheat on Sam with him? What a jerk! So not only is he did he break up with someone for doing the exact same thing he did, the first thing he did after that was to start an affair with the first girl he cheated on!
