TV Commentary:
V- This show is starting to finally get interesting. I do find it amusing that both the head of the Fifth Column task force and Anna's main news liason are both members of Fifth Column. So while she can be smug over having the upper hand as of recent, she's definitely oblivious to the threats close by.
But with the events of this ep, Erica is now the de facto leader of Fifth Column, and pissed given Joe was killed and Tyler was so distraught he abandoned his mother (what a little prick, particularly saying if she had done a better job hunting down Fifth Column, his dad would still be alive!). It seems like the Fifth Column had been operating in many independent cells, and their identities are kept secret from each other. Though I guess in the past few eps they had outed Eli as the big cheese. I would think Erica still needs to protect her cover, but she does also have to come up with a way to let the other cells know she's leader now.
I mean, when the Eli faction came on the scene, they tried to kill Chad. And for all people know, unless Eli told the rest of Fifth Column Erica was one of them (a fact I would think he'd try not to spread to wide to not blow Erica's cover), they thought Erica escaped Fifth Column's clutches. Both Erica and Chad would present as good targets for Fifth Column, so they do need to find a way to let them know they're on the same side.
Wait, did they kill Ryan off? I mean, he was in the building when the bombs went off, but it would be odd for them to kill one of the main characters off screen. But it is amusing that Anna no longer has him as a mole, but now Kyle is her inside man. I totally forgot he made a deal with Marcus last season! Its also amusing that Kyle is talking shit about Ryan for betraying them, but now Kyle is doing the exact same thing for the exact same reasons- the Vs are holding someone he loves hostage, forcing him to do their bidding.
No Ordinary Family- You know, for someone who just developed mind control, Daphne kinda sucks at it. I mean, she's been starting to use it to get what she wants, but the one time her life is in danger, she chooses to look all shifty and tries to slink off, instead of telling that couple, "Yeah, we're going to leave, stay here and don't do anything to stop us or harm us!" WTF?! Also, JJ is apparently immune to her powers because of his super brain. But I guess since she can't affect him, he doesn't press her on the fact that she seems to have no problem using her powers like that. He's like "How have you been doing this? Oh, you have mind control? And it doesn't work on me? Okay, whatever. Use them to help me solve the girl I like's mother's murder so I can get in her pants, even though I'm claiming its not to get in her pants".
And wait, so the whole thing with Charlotte and the lock in, the Powells were all, "A shape shifter? Oh, that's interesting. But I guess since we haven't seen her, she's gone." And with Jim finding out about all this surveillance, it took him most of the ep to figure out she's the one spying on them, and only after she turned into George and shot him. And what the hell, her excuse for shooting him as George was "Oh, my gun accidentally went off. Um, I'm taking off to get snacks!", which is pretty lame, but Jim fell for that.
He was pretty brutal with her though. I was kinda amused when she was in her normal form, he was all, "I can kick your ass, you're just a skinny girl!" Apparently he has no problem beating up a girl? But then she changed into him and since she de-powered him, they were on even ground. Though if she can be a strong as the people she copies, with a power like that, why hasn't she tried to purposely meet a huge-ass wrestler guy or whatever, so she could have a "strong form" to whip peoples asses with? But wow, I suppose they did it to make you wonder who won the fight, but Jim pretty much beat her to death when he prolly could've stopped after she got knocked out. Though I suppose she was already dead once she hit the fireplace, but still, he kinda bashed her head in with the fireplace poker a few more times.
Also, she was all, "How will your family know I'm not you?" and he's all, "My family knows me, you couldn't fool them!" Uh, I think beyond that, they would also notice he no longer has super strength or was bulletproof?!
But at least they brought Joshua into the fold. So Steph can make him a serum that will cure the withdrawal symptoms, but take away his powers. He claims to be cool with that. And also, since they have to cover up Charlotte's death, Steph pretends to be Charlotte pretending to be her, and fools Rev Camden into thinking she's going to Brazil as part of her investigation and thus will be gone for a while.
And wait, Steph said she'd need to know a secret to fool Rev Camden since she can't actually change into Charlotte. But that didn't seem to come into play. Or is the secret that Rev Camden has a thing for Stephanie (well, I don't think physically, but mentally?)
