The Vampire Diaries- Ha, the wolves knowing Katherine as "Kathy"! That's hilarious! I'm kinda curious if she introduced herself like that, or that guy was taking liberties, because I seriously cannot her imagine her trying to act like she's a "Kathy". I mean, I can see her as a Kate, or even a Katie, but Kathy just wouldn't seem right.
But man, the werewolves in this show are stupid. I mean, they're stronger than human, but even they admit they can't take on a vamp unless its the full moon, where they can change into their full wolf form. I mean, they'll be stronger, faster, have that bite that's fatal to vamps, even if not immediate. But what do they do? Take on the brothers Salvatore not on the full moon! I mean, they thought superior numbers would work, but last ep, it was a pretty much even fight, with the brothers slaughtering half their number. And then the wolves were immediately floored by a powerful man-witch who said they're under his protection. So between not being at full strength, and the vampires having powerful magical backing, you'd think they'd high tail it out of there until the next full moon. Though I suppose the whole moonstone thing and a chance to break their curse is pretty compelling.
And I suppose story-wise, since they had just had a full moon on the show, I guess they didn't want a whole month passing before they did anything with the wolves again. But seriously, when they first showed up in force, they were unaware of the moonstone. And I guess since Tyler's basically a pup, Jules didn't want a month going by without being able to help him. But Brady being all about vengeance and whatever, if they played it smart, they would have waited for the full moon to come.
So, onto this ep. And now look at them! Though it was pretty cool to see Elijah walk in all nonchalantly with the moonstone and be all, "Oh, you want this, come and take it!" and putting it on the table. Then when they rushed him he ripped all their hearts out. Except for Jules, who wisely ran away. Oh, and "brainy" werewolf guy, who's attempt to hide in his jacket was just too funny. Heh, Elijah didn't even think he was worth a heart rip, just snapped his neck with an elbow to the head.
Brady didn't fair too well either. He and Tyler jumped Stefan, leaving Elena vulnerable (what kinda guardian is Jenna? Oh, sure, teenage adopted niece, go away for a weekend with your boyfriend at our family's lakehouse, unchaperoned!). Only not so much. She pretty much kicked ass, managing to hold Brady off and keeping away, until Stefan told Tyler his new wolf buds left out the part where breaking the curse involved Elena's death. Then, Tyler let him go, and he ripped Brady's heart out. Tyler at least apologized to Elena, saying he didn't know what they were planning for her, he was just distraught and wanted to be rid of this curse. And he got an understanding hug from Elena.
Owel, with the pack all but slaughtered, Jules leaves town, with Tyler in tow. Tyler feels with all that is happening, Mystic Falls is not the place for him. He leaves a note and some flowers for his mum, watches Caroline one last time. Then he tells Matt, yes, he does like Caroline in that way, but she loves him, so Matt should stop being an idiot and get back together with Caroline.
Speaking of Caroline, she, Bonnie, and the Germ roofie Luka to determine Elijah's plans. During this, Caroline manages to convince Bonnie to go for it with Jeremy, and she finally kisses him. As for what they get out of Luka, they find out the plan is to go through with the un-cursing, because Klaus will be vulnerable immediately after, and then Elijah will kill him. Of course, Elena's not surprised, because she knows Eli's tricky with his words. He's a man of his word, and as such, will phrase things in certain ways so he's not breaking his word when he do X. Needless to say, Stefan is mad that she's cool with this.
As for Damon, he's busy getting his ass handed to him by Elijah and then tortured by the wolves this ep. But, I think he's developing kinda an awe and respect for Elijah and his bad-assedness. Anyways, Alaric tells Damon not to kill reporter Andie Starr, since she is a friend of Jenna's. But ha, Damon was kinda hilarious with his response of "Of course I won't, because then who will report her death!" You know, I've come to realize that it's kinda messed up that episodes often involve someone asking Damon not to MURDER SOMEONE.
Speaking of Jenna, they need to finally let her in on this, because everyone else around her knows and I'm not sure they're accomplishing anything by keeping her in the dark! I mean, look what happened with Katherine. Katherine played Elena a few times, managed to get Jenna off Vervain for a while and compel her. She thinks Elijah is some historian guy. Vampires are pretty dangerous, its dumb to keep her in dark of the danger. Also, its not only being unaware if vampires, its not knowing the Salvatores and Caroline are "good". I mean, with the council around, she could inadvertently tell them things that could have bad consequences for the gang.
Plus, as shown when Sark revealed he was Elena's real dad last ep, its kinda shitty to keep her in the dark about that stuff. I mean, she does know now that Uncle John is Elena's dad, and Alaric's supposed dead ex-wife is Elena's mom. But keeping more secrets from her will just make her suspicious and cause her to do something that might not be good for them (or her). Looks like Uncle John is starting to sow the seeds, with him saying, "Oh, did they ever mention they never found Isobel's body?" So when Isobel eventually shows up and sees Alaric talking to her, needless to say she'll be kinda pissed. Not only at him for saying his wife is dead when she's not (well, she would appear alive to Jenna for all intents and purposes since she doesn't know about vamps), but then I'm sure Elena will be unable to lie and say she's never met her mom, so I'm sure she'd be hurt and mad at that too.
Oh, John is also wanting his ring back, since its technically his. Good thing Ric hadn't though, otherwise he would've been toast when the werewolves attacked. Wonder if he will get it back, because then that leaves Alaric vulnerable. Though with both him and Jeremy having those rings, it does cut some of the tension. I mean, Elena's the star of the show, nothing's gonna happen to her. And the brothers and Caroline are vamps, and Bonnie is a witch. Making the non-powered folks effectively immortal (to supernatural-caused death) puts them on an even kee with the rest, but then if they can't die, its not dramatic!
Also, forgot to mention the reason Manwitch and Manwitch Jr are working with Elijah. Since Klaus has been looking for ways to break the curse other than with the moonstone ritual, he's surrounded himself with witches over the centuries. Well, not always of their volition. Turns out Luka has a sister, and if they help Elijah kill Klaus, they'll get her back.
