TV commentary:
Glee: Hello, Santana in a sexy nurse's outfit! Although her revenge plan was incredibly gross. (Its also amusing that she's gotten mono so many times she's developed an immunity to it) But yeah, its interesting to see her, Quinn, and Brit not in their Cheerios outfits. Well, I guess we saw Quinn out of her uniform the second half of last season. But Brit has a pretty unique style, and Santana is delightfully kinda slutty. Though what's with her claiming she's from the wrong side of the tracks? Isn't her dad a doctor? Although I guess she could've just been trying to act like she was ghetto to be all tough or something.
Also, as I said, P.Y.T. sounded pretty awesome, but the performance on the show was even better. Mike's definitely got dancing skillz.
Wow, Finn was kinda a cocky prick tonight though. And I guess he and Rachel are dunzo for now? I mean, while he does seem to still care for Rachel, it sounds like right now he likes Quinn more given the whole fireworks thing. At least he gave it to Rachel straight this time (sort of), instead of jerking both girls around like last season. Its like, make a choice! Well, he didn't exactly make a choice, but Rachel took herself out of the running given he did have an obvious preference and admitted it under Rachel's questioning. Of course, its kinda assy that he even said they both hurt him in the past by cheating on him with Puck. And while Rachel purposely did it to hurt him, Quinn went way farther and lied for longer, and that's who he picked?
But yeah, given all that happened in the last five minutes, I was all wait, she hasn't done Firework yet, and there's still the Warblers' "Silly Love Songs", it seems like they crammed it all in there at the end. Speaking of Rachel though, its interesting that the last two eps have actually had the glee clubbers being her actual friends? I mean, she was hanging with Mercedes and Klaine in the Super Bowl ep, now she, Mercades and Kurt having a sleepover? Of course, I always like it better when they're not treating Rach like crap. Also, given her "bad behavior" the first half of the season was mostly boy-related, if she really is focusing on her singing instead of going after Finn, maybe she won't be as terrible.
But yeah, getting back to the Warblers, felt kinda bad for Kurt when the ep started, because he thought Blaine was talking about him, but it was obvious it wasn't. So you know where things were going. And ha, he got that one guy accidentally fired from the Gap. But I think it was good development for Blaine. The thing that was off with Klaine before was that Blaine seemed too much like the wise gay guru, and as such a little too much for Kurt. But Blaine coming off kinda foolish and not as "cool" as Kurt thought does put them more on an even keel.
So they're pairing Puck with Lauren? She does seem resistant to his charms, hence his constant pursuit. I liked what they did with Fat Bottomed Girls- Puck gave a good performance, but as Lauren said, its sweet that she sang for him, but also pretty insulting. I think people would have been mad if she was touched by it and that was that. But sounds like he's gonna work for it? Even though he made out with that married waitress after he got stood up?
Santana was pretty amusing and awesome this ep. I mentioned the hot nurse's outfit. And her plan to burn Quinn and Finn was hilarious, albeit a little gross. I mean, being slutty, spcv('nice!'), but actually saying she'd be so diseased because of it that she was immune to mono but could still be a carrier is kinda yucky. Also, it was kinda amusing that she was crazy enough to think she could take on Lauren, and then actually think she was holding her own during their fight? Owel, it was also nice to see Rachel get in a good dig at her though. The comment about the stripper pole was a pretty wicked burn.
Its weird reading on the forums how offended some people were about the fight though. I guess I'm somewhat desensitized to violence. One can say I even enjoy it to a certain extent. And that being said, some people are the opposite and cringe at such acts, and I'm sure fans of a show like Glee would prolly have more people like that than more people like me. So when they see people get thrown around, they freak out. I mean, they complain about the show being inconsistent, what with the show previously portraying Karofsky slamming Kurt against the lockers as serious business, and now its played for laughs. Sure, its inconsistent in terms of the school's rules if the teachers don't even bat an eye at Lauren and Santana tussling, but take the Kurt thing way seriously, but in terms of the way the show presented it, there was a difference in tone. Plus, the people who think the show has been putting Kurt on a pedestal are all, "Oh, when Kurt gets bullied, people make a big deal, but no one does anything when it happens to Rachel or someone else!" They act like Lauren was "bullying" Santana! It makes me wonder if people know what bullying is! Yes, in real life, sometimes the people in charge are not sensitive enough and let the popular kids get away with shit. But, not every physical altercation is bullying! Two girls had a problem with each other, and fought. There's no bullying going on there. And its not like Lauren jumped Santana and wouldn't let up! Santana just kept coming after her.
But I digress. Hmm, what was that little moment with Sam and Santana looking at each other in the end? With the Quinn and Finn thing going on, and Santana currently free, are they gonna be the next coupling?
Oh, and what the hell was with the weird Tina breaking down during "My Funny Valentine"? It was an odd joke that kinda fell flat.

Date: 2011-02-09 12:29 pm (UTC)I thought this one was pretty good. And dude, I totally called the Puck thing in my comments on your last glee post!
And whoa, Santana. Zing! I'm glad Lauren banged her up, she had it coming. (I called her bossy in my comment on your last post and she totally said that about herself this episode too, haha!) And srsly, there has been girl-fighting on the show before, like at the beginning of this season between Quinn/Santana. Kids fight at school, it just happens. People need to get over it. I mean seriously, if they have two chicks kissing all lesbian-like, isn't that more offensive than a little hallway tussle? (And why is it that Santana's always involved in all of the questionable things that happen on the show?)
The Tina thing was very weird, and I didn't understand it at all. Did she and Arty break up on V-day or something? Or did she and whassisface start dating on v-day?
I dunno, Blaine still seems too much for Kurt, even after embarrassing himself. It helped, but you know, he really almost out-classes everyone else on the entire show. He has some kind of charisma that no one else seems to have, and I don't understand it. I can't really help but allow that to affect the way I view him as he interacts with the other characters. He can really stand up and jam to a beat. And man, the guy he liked at the Gap was cute! Dang!
Anyway, it's about time Santana got some development. She is very cute, and while I don't care much for her bitchy attitude, I am starting to have hope that she might tone it down some in the future. Her character is in desperate need of some sympathetic attributes, and so far she has had none.
For some reason, I am just not feeling Finn/Quinn. Maybe it's because I think Finn is kind of a doof who isn't all that attractive, while Quinn is super pretty. She seems better with Sam (who is also super hot, and ripped), if she could just chill out and if Sam could manage to calm the hell down. Sam's sudden "I wanna marry you someday wharrrgarbl!!!" was way creepy and seemed very out of place. And it's no wonder it freaked Quinn out a little bit.
Finn was a dick this episode, and it really annoyed me. It seems like Rachel makes him a better person while Quinn makes him a worse one. His choice seems obvious, if he could step back and look at things objectively. Honestly, aside from Will, Finn is by far the most immature of all of them. There'd be no way I would be at his kissing booth, no matter how cheap. Who cares if he's the QB. However, if Sam, Blaine or Puck had a kissing booth instead, sign me up!

Yeah, at first I thought, did she also get mono, but I think it was just that she loves Mike so much she was overwhelmed with emotion that she just broke down in the middle of her song. Not that funny a joke to begin with, and poorly executed.
When I was rewatching the ep, I just realized Santana's mono plan is way worse than I thought it was. Sure, by giving Finn mono, she exposed Finn and Quinn. But then I remembered, wait, she kissed him in the middle of the day, meaning he kissed a whole lot of other girls besides Quinn as well. So doesn't that mean Santana caused a whole bunch of people to get mono?
Which makes me wonder if there are kissing booths in real life, or if its just something you see on TV, because that just seems like they would just spread disease. Plus, I would think parents would flip out if that was happening at some school event in real life.
But I digress. Yeah, I'd like to see Santana get some more development instead of just being evil bitchy chick. I mean, even Sue has a good side with her sister.
