Dec. 29th, 2010 01:59 pmSo flicking through the channels, saw that "Little Darlings" was on. I'd heard of the movie, and knew it had a young Matt Dillon, but I was weirded out by not only a really young Cynthia Nixon, but also a younger Armand Assante. I guess I'm used to him playing like foreign crime bosses or foreign dictators or really rich foreign dudes, its weird to see him being just some random American joe schmoe. Also weird, someone named Ferris and it not being Bueller.
I guess this movie really is the product of another time, because when Tatum O'Neal goes to Armand Assante's cabin to "seduce" him, I would think it was fairly obvious what she was trying to do, and he's like oblivious until she tries to kiss him. Then he's all, "Oh, how funny, but you're just a kid! You won't even find me attractive next year when you're older and more mature!" and "you're too young now but, if you were 21 I'd nail you in a heartbeat!" Like nowadays, I would think he wouldn't let her ass in to his cabin and be all, "Get out of here before people think something happened and I get labeled a sex offender!"
And then when she gets back after he says all those "romantic" things to her, the girls think she's looking all smitten like that because they did it, and she lies and says they did! Totally not cool, is she trying to get his ass thrown in jail? And word of it does get around camp, and he's mad that she would spread those lies, but it doesn't seem like he's actually facing any trouble, even though there are rumors going around that he, a male counselor, banged a totally underage camper. Well, they imply he got in some trouble, but if he's still at the camp, he couldn't have gotten in too much trouble. It seems nowadays, even if nothing happened, just the rumor could ruin him! But by the end he's off the hook since the girl and her friends decided to tell the truth. And then when its time for everybody to leave, he's basically, "Thanks for telling everyone we didn't do it. But maybe we can when you're 21!"
Also, on those VH-1 specials, when they reference this movie, guys talk about having a crush of Kristy McNichols, and maybe its the tomboy thing they like, but I thought she paled in comparison to Krista Errickson's character. But that may be because of my penchant for insecure bitchy brunettes.
Owel, there's still way too much snow on the ground outside. I cleared some snow off the mini-van, and it was parked by a driveway, and the people ended up clearing all the snow blocking the van in front when trying to open a channel wide enough on their driveway to drive their car out. I also dug out the front driver's side door so one could actually get in. But I don't think we're in a rush to drive around anytime soon, lest we lose our parking spot and have to dig out another parking spot since the snow plows have basically walled the parking spaces in with a couple of feet of snow.
