Misfits- The Christmas special wasn't too bad, even if the plot involved people with powers doing something I wouldn't even conceive of doing. If you have super powers, why the frick would you sell them?! Particularly if its a super power that could be useful for getting money and/or power?! Its like would you like to make a paltry sum, or would you like the ability to get all the money you could ever want?! It does not make sense to me to ever do the latter (well, unless you have a crap power I guess). Particularly for only 20K pounds! Like the power to read minds or turn invisible or rewind time or be friggin immortal?! Those are 6 figure plus powers, particularly since one can easily make 20K in less than an hour with those powers if they know how to use them!
But yeah, Alisha selling that power is a good thing, because its a crap power for a chick. I mean, a guy touches her and they immediately want to screw her? And not in a she can control them sort of way because they want to bang her, but they're basically gonna try and rape her. Of course, when fake jesus got the power, its interesting how such a power ends up being totally different in the hands of a man. I mean, this ep, Curtis even says Alisha basically raped him back in first season by using her power on him. But for the most part, given guys are typically stronger than girls, and Alisha's a small girl, it seems her powers would tend toward her more being the victim. But when fake jesus had it, the power seems way more rape-y in the hands of a guy, since he can basically have any girl he wants by touching them. I dunno, maybe I'm chauvinist by thinking its more rape-y in the hands of a guy, since either way, the person being influenced is technically being forced to want sex against their will. But honestly, the way male-female gender dynamics are, I can't be the only one who would see it as more horrible for a guy to use it on a girl than a girl to use it on a guy.
But I digress. Some interesting things this ep. Apparently Alisha revealed the truth to Simon once again, since the last ep when she did that, it didn't actually happen since Curtis rewound time. But that was kinda messed up of her, to kinda manipulate Simon by being all, "Oh future Simon says we should do this". While I do like the couple, its not really cool for her to try and turn Simon into the way she wants by lying about what his future self has told her.
Also, Nikki's dead! One of fake jesus' followers tries to rob them after they've sold their powers, and Nathan, forgetting he has no powers tries to fight back, and realizing at the last second he's not invincible, he dodges out of the way and Nikki ends up getting shot in the chest. And unfortunately Curtis can't rewind time to save her either.
After fake jesus tries to use Alisha's power against her, they try to take him on, but obviously since he has powers and they don't, its a one sided fight. They don't actually fight though, he just teleports to safety. So they decide to try and steal the money he's made since getting his powers. But for some reason, instead of just stuffing it into their pockets, they try to haul it all away in the huge ass locker its in. What are they, retarded? Although I guess if they hadn't, they wouldn't have been able to accidentally kill him when he tried to teek the locker away from them.
But with his death, looks like Alisha and Nikki's powers are lost. However, since they did steal all of fake jesus' money, they can buy other powers. So next season, the Misfits may have totally different powers. I mean, besides Alisha and Nikki's being lost, I'm guessing since some other person has Curtis' power, he won't be able to get it back unless they can convince him to sell it back to the power broker. Though this may explain why Superhoodie didn't seem to use invisibility powers, he may have gotten something else (or was unable to get his invisibility back) Also, I dunno how much money they "procured", its possible they could get multiple powers if they have enough money.
On the lighter side, Nathan gets a new girlfriend, a kinda cute preggers chick who seems extremely well suited to him. Its not a Misfits ep if I'm not shouting "WTF?!" at Nate's antics, and this is no exception. I mean, between banging a preggers girl, to thinking her afterbirth is an alien and stomping it and grossly dousing everyone in afterbirth blood, he's just hilariously out there. But that can't be very sanitary!
