So today, had a little get-together for my b-day with the usual suspects. Lots of good food as usual, lot of fun was had. All in all, a fun day.

TV Commentary:

Walking Dead- So, 1st season finale. Wow, color me surprised Shane survived. This whole CDC thing was an interesting side story, although was the point just to give the viewers some idea about the outbreak that one didn't get in the comics? Of course, the comic seemed grounded in the real world, mostly because they didn't delved into the whys of the outbreak, just focused on the situations people dealt with. But apparently the CDC is controlled by sophisticated voice activated computers. And apparently if the power goes out, the building is set to blow itself up?!

Owel, so much for Jacqui, who chooses to let herself get blowed up along with Doctor Jenner. Heh, Andrea was all set to die, but Dale was all, "I care too much about you, so I'm sticking with you" which guilts Andrea into leaving. Heh, so apparently no one carries about Jacqui though to do that for her?!

But with the CDC blowing up and them out on the road again, I guess they're back on the comic book track, which meshes with Kirkman's supposed statement that the series will follow the comic storyline, albeit with some slight changes and some side tracks. Although Shane is still around. I'm kinda curious how long he'll survive next season. It seems like a showdown between him and Rick is inevitable, particularly once Rick finds out about Shane attempting to rape Lori at the CDC. Hopefully they'll leave it with Carl killing Shane to protect his dad. I think Daryl might actually be around for a while, since as I said Kirkman actually likes the character and wishes he could've added him into the comic series.

With the short seasons, I wonder what they're gonna do about Carl and Sophia, since I think they'll grow far faster than the show's pace. I mean, in the comic, not much time has actually passed, so the kids are still in their single digits, I think. Well, in the show they seem slightly older. But they'll be hitting their teens when they're still supposed to be playing like 10 or 11 or however the hold they're supposed to be.

Owel, actually, since the ex-roomie has the first trade sitting on one of his tables, I paged through it to see how early it was that Shane died, but looking through the panels, I didn't realize how closely the show actually mirrored the comic at times. I mean, since that was almost 80 issues ago, there were things I thought the TV show had "filled in" that were actually in the comic. Like I thought Jim was a made up character for the TV show, I didn't realize the whole him being bitten and slowly dying and becoming infected and them leaving him was in the comic! Also, when the zombies attacked the camp and Amy got killed, I mean, I knew she had gone to take a whiz and was ambushed and got bitten then, but the TV version actually replicated the comic pretty accurately. Well, just the initial attack, since there were still significant changes such as Carol's husband being still alive and around for the zombies to tear up and Rick and Glenn and the others having gone back to the ATL to retrieve guns and only showing up in the middle of the fight to save everyone.

Did you notice that their CDC was actually the Cobb Energy Center? Maybe that was obvious from the previous episode, but I didn't notice until they blew it up.
