Friday Night Lights- Hmm, is it because Julie is a Taylor that they're continuing to follow her adventures? Really, what's with all these shows nowadays with the girls pursuing teacher types. But really, WTF, I bet her TA is a frigging lying predator! i mean, the whole giving her a C- and then being all, "Oh, I just think you can do better!" which I always thought was kinda BS. But even more BS than usual when he was all, "Oh, there's this salon (and how douche-y sounding is that?), come to it and we can talk about it some more!" Like how skeezy sounding is that! Then there, he gives her this sob story about his wife and how they're separated and how he doesn't feel married. How is that not a total line? And she ends up banging him?! WTF?!

Wasn't Jess on the dance squad or something last year? It seems she wanted to be equipment manager because she wanted to support the team without being a rally girl. And while being a cheerleader type isn't that much different, she seems like she's above it this year. Hell, you prolly wouldn't guess she was a dancer last year. Its like they turned her more dorky and tomboyish, as her zeal for the whole equipment manager team is to be in a football role that's considered more manly.

Connected with that, weird, is drunk redhead chick a new character? I thought she was a one shot character for the last ep as someone to irk Jess.

So the other major plot thread was Vince's dad coming home from prison and his mom letting him stay with them. I think it was interesting, because Vince is not to keen on the guy, as he thinks he's most of the reason his mom was messed up, and how he wasn't around for Vince growing up. But at the same time, his dad didn't seem outright suspect and seemed like he was trying to make amends. Though it is understandable why Vince doesn't trust him.

Which leads to a tearful confession to coach where he can't take the pressure to be this leader and role model when he never had a father around to show him how. Of course, Coach has the right words of wisdom to say, and Vince's dad sees him win the game. To his credit, he sees how good his son has become, and how it was no thanks to him. But he'd like to be a part of his son's life and re-connect, but he realizes its also "too much too soon". He'll be around, but since Vince isn't ready for him to be living there, he'll find a place on his own for now.

Ah, and interesting, so they did win the previous game that Luke missed. And given how they've suddenly made Vince this superstar, I'm guessing they'll have to make it to the championship? Not that they don't have many obstacles in the way. I'm curious if the whole video thing, were those parents really appalled by what happened in it, or were there a few ringers in there trying to again undermine East Dillon?

So I guess they're gonna add Buddy Jr as a recurring character now, given he's been too much for the mom to handle. Heh, though I'm sure his son is gonna be real happy about being shipped back to Dillon! I mean, he's basically being uprooted from his friends and such and going from hippyville back to football crazy Dillon.

Also, I almost forgot Buddy was Lyla's dad. Also, that Mindy was Tyra's sister? I mean, they've come into their own long after the characters they were connected to left, its weird to think that they were originally tertiary characters. Well, Mindy still kinda is. But Buddy originally started as a one-note "douche-y ex-football star supporter of the team" character, and he's certainly grown a lot since then.
