Something for the "Neat, but is it really all that useful?" file:
So, a beta of the youtube remote app hit the android market today, so I downloaded that to fiddle around with. Its used with Youtube Leanback- log in to youtube with your google account and go to the leanback page. Then pull up the remote on your phone and log in to your google account there as well. The vids play in the highest quality available on leanback and you can search and control playback from your phone. Its too bad you can't control the volume though! Or if you can, I haven't figured it out.
I mean, its kinda cool to be able to control video playing on my computer from my phone, but since its limited to stuff on youtube, its an interesting trick, nothing more. Another interesting app is gmote, which lets you control media playage on your computer from your phone. But I have a wireless keyboard with media play keys, so its not that useful to me. Then again, since I keep my phone on the shelf next to my bed, that would probably be more utilitarian than having my keyboard on my bed when I'm having a lazy day and am watching video/listening to music while lying in bed.
