I am a damn moron. When I got into work this morning, I actually locked my keys in my car. With the engine running. I used to have a spare in my backpack, but I had taken it out several months ago. So I desperately tried to reach Krug, but since we only have the one phone right now, and its downstairs, it was doubtful that he could hear it. So, next I tried the campus police, who told me to call parking. Oh, and warned me not to do that again. Excuse me? Uh, I didn't actually intend to lock my keys in my car. I can understand them saying that if I had actually mentioned the engine was still running, but I didn't. For all they know, I'm just some dumb schmuck who accidentally locked his keys in his car.

Tried the Parking office, but either I heard the number wrong on my cell, or something. Then Terri from worked pulled in. I asked her if she knew the actual number at parking. She admitted she didn't, but she told me Parking won't be a help, they'll take forever to get there, and to instead ask Jerry, the Facilities guy, because he knows someone who could prolly get it opened. So I did, but when he called his guy, they told him that duty got relegated to Parking. So he tried Parking, and they said they would meet me outside. I had managed to get a hold of Krug after waiting five minutes for the parking guy. Who never showed up. Krug finally got there with my spare key, so I thanked him and unlocked my car. Its ridiculous though. Krug, coming from home which is about ten minutes away, managed to get there before anyone from Parking, which is under a minute by car. Owel, I called them afterwards and told them they didn't need to send their guy. They claimed they were looking for me, but I'm incredulous.

Thankfully(?), I noticed something was wrong as I closed the door. I mean, it would have been infinitely more useful noticing the keys were still in the ignition and the car was running before I closed the door. It would've been totally uncool for it to be running for nine hours. Especially since I have stuffs to do after work.

I'm just mad at myself for messing up like that because I can be so anal and meticulous. I mean, the routine is a reflex. Apply parking brake, turn off car, remove key from ignition, open door, hit power lock, get out, close door without even thinking about it. I quite often lock passengers in because I hit the power lock so quickly after opening the door that I don't give them the time to actually get out. For some reason, my brain crapped out and I missed the "turn off car/remove key" portion. And its not like my mind was pre-occupied either. Owel, I should just be thankful I was able to get my roomie to drop by with the spare.

I just remember when I took the spare key out of my backpack months ago I was thinking, "when am I really gonna need this?" I was kicking myself this morning for that.

i've locked myself out 3 times this year alone--i don't know what's happening to me...once at work, that one time when i got home (and my parents brought the spare and we went to the varsity), and then last week as we were moving the tv into the place...thankfully, i had the spare from the last time it happened--we're getting old & simple!

You know what I say, pleasures of the flesh muck the mind! Ha! But I remember that! Any excuse for free Varsity cheeseburgers and chili dogs is alright in my book.

Anyhoo, I still want to get some lockpicking tools and slim jims and the sort. Just for situations like where peeps I know lock their key in their car and have no access to a spare. Like one of the hottie neighbors. They can be all, "Dang, I locked my key in my car! Whatever will I do?" Then I can pop the lock for them and they can be all impressed by my heroic countenance. And they can be so grateful they invite me over for sweet tea... with sexy results!

That's right, I forgot he's Mr. locksmith. Wait, he said that? But isn't he married to Jennifer #9?
