Oct. 30th, 2010 04:36 pmInteresting, when fooling with the music player on my phone to get it to see some new songs I just uploaded to the memory card, I cleared out all the old application data. That seems to have fixed the problem with showing the wrong album art, as I guess the latest version of doubletwist does try to search for album art online if there's not any embedded in the mp3 file. I did download a newer (though still free) version of it from the market, but I guess either toying with the old version or the stock music player on the phone somehow cached album art in internal memory, and the albums without art for some reason ended up using that so doubletwist thought it did have art and didn't bother looking for the proper art? Well, in any case the O-C part of me is incredibly happy that the art is now correct, even though its not my main music player.
Speaking of, interesting, I didn't realize the last.fm widget that pulls info on what I'm currently listening to put in the "listening to" portion of my lj posts doesn't necessarily get it from the music player on the computer you're making the post from. But I guess that makes sense, its prolly pulling it from last.fm itself, so it'll list whatever is currently scrobbling to it. As such, when I was playing music off my phone, since it was scrobbling to last.fm over the wireless, that's what the widget picked up. Ah, technology.
TV Commentary:
Nikita- Ah, there's the Division I'm more familiar with. I forgot what the term was they had for such missions in the old show, when the mission has a 0% survival rate, but they throw bodies at it anyway, people who are useless and have nothing left to offer them. It kinda highlights the coldness of the organization which I wasn't getting from this current show.
But yeah, Nikita pulls the whole "look to your left and look your right thing" on Alex, telling her one of these two recruits will die on her, so don't get too close. Its not the one she expected- there was useless young Eloise Hawking chick, who Division was gonna send as an unwitting suicide bomber to frame some environmental group for some big oil company. Nikita saves her and gets her out- with a little help from Michael, who lies to Percy and says he saw young Eloise Hawking's body in the car as Nikita got away. But I'm a little skeptical though, as he wasn't the only survivor. I mean, for one thing, it didn't seem like Michael was the only one who saw her peek out from the back seat. Unless it was a bad camera angle and the other guy in the car wasn't actually supposed to be seeing her even though she was obviously in the actor's field of view from the audience's perspective. Additionally, unless his men are idiots, they know that even after Nikita claimed she was dead, they were being attacked by two shooters, as someone was providing automatic cover fire while someone else snuck around and started firing at their flank!
As far as Alex thinks, its the other recruit, who's been there a long time, who was hoping the training would make him James Bond, and he'd get to go out and travel the world, something he didn't expect growing up in his poor white trash household. But, after all the training, he was made a guard (which means he's stuck down there forever), which eventually causes him to flip out and go on a killing spree. Alex tries to talk him down, but when he takes her hostage she takes him down, and as far as she knows, he was executed.
But, it looks like he's being slated to be a cleaner. A few things I'm curious about concerning this plot. Did division really think he was only suitable for guard duty, and when he killed all those other guards, Division re-assessed him and figured he'd make a great cleaner? Or is that par for the course? That they needed to mess with him like that as some sort of final test/evaluation on his suitability? Also, when Amanda says no one knows he's down there, does she mean, the other recruits and many of the normal staff? Or people like Percy as well, like she's using him as some sort of agent for herself just in case.
I mean, with Percy being obviously corrupt, I'm sure Amanda knows this, and if it was anything like the old show, she's smart enough to know that even though they're allies now, she needs her own check against Percy in case he ends up betraying her. So I wasn't sure if she was having assets in her own pocket just in case.
Degrassi- So, are they setting up Fiona/Adam? That would be interesting- I mean, everyone at school knows Adam is a transgender, right? Her being interested in Adam does kinda highlight that she definitely has issues when it comes to relationships- She had to go to therapy because she was a little too close to her brother Declan, her first bf at Degrassi was Riley, whom she eventually figured was gay but implied she would fine with being his beard (but since this was before he came to terms with his sexuality, that kinda enraged him that she would think he was), then in NY she got with that family friend/one of Declan's buddies, someone whom the family would feel is an appropriate match to someone of her stature, someone who abused her. It seems between all that, her whole not wanting anything physical make sense. Now I'm kinda curious then, that if she is aware of Adam's transgender status, that that's why she'd see Adam as a safe choice since they can't really screw around. Or if Fi's thinking of swearing off boys since she has an incredibly terrible track record and trying girls for a while, which I would think Adam would have problems with being a transgender and not a lesbian.
