Oct. 17th, 2010 11:16 amSo, since the T-Mobile G2 dropped relatively recently, and I was tired of having a phone that was kinda gimpy compared to the androids, iphones, blackberries and the like, I dumped my Sidekick for it. Ah, since I've been with SK since almost the beginning (I think I've had every iteration since the Sidekick II), it feels like the end of an era. I mean, they were there at the beginning of the whole smartphone thing, but they just lost the race to these other companies.
I like the phone so far, its definitely faster and has more functionality. Like I can actually watch movies off youtube without having to do the SK's weird thing of having to save it to the memory card and replay it in the media player. And hey, now I can foursquare (is it lame that I checked into church?), and check into movies with Miso. I mean, it wasn't a problem with TV shows since I was usually near a computer when I watched the telly, but since there was no miso sidekick app, it was a pain to try and check into a movie, so I didn't even bother.
But now to the part where I demonstrate what an insane slightly O-C person I am. So the phone has a music player. But I'm not getting rid of my ipod any time soon since unlike the phone, I can dock it to my car stereo and alarm clock. Still, I have a 16 gig card in the phone, and for my insane redundancy, have my music on it also. Anyways, even though I prolly wouldn't use it as my primary music player, it annoys me to no end that the album art is messed up on it. I mean, mp3s I got from Amazon and Itunes are fine, since they have the album art embedded into the music file itself. But stuff I ripped does not. Its fine in itunes, because you can grab the artwork so my ipod displays album art just fine. But, it actually saves that art to a separate database rather than the file itself, and itunes knows where to find it.
Anyhoo, for all my non itunes and amazon music, for the art the music player seems to randomly grab the art from some other music file that has the art embedded in. So all those files will either show the "Detroit Rock City Soundtrack" or Melissa Etheridge's "Yes I Am" album covers. Not to mention that on my ipod, I actually use cool fan made Glee cover art rather than the plain boring album art that comes with the songs from Glee I purchase, so the phone is displaying the boring art instead. But I digress, the fact that its wrong drives me crazy, even though as I said, I'd rarely listen to music on the phone and thus see the wrong album art. Sometimes I wish I wasn't anal about the stupidest things.
