TV Commentary:

Smallville- So this ep featured the return of Hawkman and Plastique, and the appearance of Cat Grant (who's little son has not yet been killed by Toyman in this universe and played by the mousy voiced Keri Lynn Pratt) and Deadshot. As I said in last week's commentary, Deadshot is re-imagined here as a guy who fancies himself a wild west gunslinger. Though he still does have the cybernetic monocle, although its attached to to a pair of glasses that it flips over. Again, while his personality doesn't match that of his comic counterpart, I do think a guy dressing up as a cowboy and using actual guns is still less doofy than a guy in a full spandex body suit and wrist mounted guns.

Ah, I also didn't realize the guy torturing Ollie last week was supposed to be Rick Flag, which makes sense since in addition to Darkseid, I guess the Suicide Squad looks to be another enemy the heros will be facing this season. Wonder if they're gonna get more people than just Flag, Plastique and Deadshot? Oh, one thing I'll put under a cut. Apparently when Chloe exchanged herself for Ollie, she swallowed a cyanide capsule. But she took an antidote beforehand! Sure, she erased all traces of her identity, but wouldn't they know something was up when the body disappeared?! But apparently she for some reason for Ollie and Clark's sakes. I guess she'll be gone for most of the season, only to show up to help at the climax or something? I didn't realize she's no longer in the credits!

Supernatural- What the, Flashpoint guy is dead already? I figured these Campbells were gonna be toast, but that was a lame and rather abrupt way to die. Hmm, so the big bad or bads this season are possibly "Alphas", super powered versions of monsters they've seen previously on the show on whom the legends are based on? Or are they just the start and something even bigger is behind them?

And some of this ep seemed non-sensical. So at first, Dean is reluctant to turn the kid over to the Campbells, because he thinks they're gonna kill it. Then they talk about raising it themselves, because they obviously can't just drop it off at the local orphanage. And he doesn't like that either! What would he have them do then? He doesn't want to release it, because it is still a monster, albiet a baby one, he doesn't want them to kill it, but he doesn't want them to raise it?

Then he starts to drive Lisa and the kid crazy by being overprotective, and kinda anxious because he doesn't want to be just sitting around at home when there's bad guys to be stopped. So Lisa is all, just go, and come when you can, like he's going off to war, and they'll stay at home waiting for him. Which is all when and fine, but the conflict was less that Lisa didn't want him going out and getting killed, but the legitimate threat that his enemies would come after them to get to him and he wouldn't be there to protect them. I don't think that's changed. but whatever, I guess they need a reason for Dean not to be tied down. Which again, then they shouldn't have continued on with the show since it stopped at a good point.

Heh, not all aspiring performers on youtube I follow are cute teenage girls. For example, there's folks like Tyler Ward (and his whole group of peeps) and Ahmir. Speaking of the latter, how did I miss their cover of Taylor Swift's "Today Was A Fairy Tale" (with a little bit of Taylor's "You Belong With Me" thrown in there at the end)? Its hilariously awesome. I mean, you don't hear many R&B groups covering Taylor Swift, but it works!
