Here's what I think of your pecan pie!
Jul. 19th, 2010 10:58 pmWhat's up with effers knocking at the door at 830pm at night trying to sell you a paper subscription? I mean, who still reads the paper? Get your news off the internet, luddite! And are they really selling that stuff to help with their college tuition? It sounds like a scam to me, like those people who accost you in parking lots with some sob story about needing money for gas to get to a job interview. Like really, what are the chances of bumping into 5 random strangers with the exact same problem throughout your life?
But I digress, I wasted so much time letting this guy know I was not interested that I missed some of my show! That really grinds my gears!
TV commentary:
Secret Life- What the, the whole Ashley/Ricky thing came out of nowhere! Well, I mean, they were obviously heading that direction, but they kinda went from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds didn't they? I mean, I can see them being in lust, they're teens. But in love? Hilarious ep though, from Adrian basically coming into school and outing her getting knocked up by Ben to everyone (hey, better than dragging it all out) to Ricky's mom showing up wanting to reconcile since she's about to have to turn herself in for breaking parole. Well, that part wasn't hilarious, though I thought Ben's reaction on to how she broke parole was a hysterical line (Ricky: "It wasn't drugs, she brought a gun to her meeting with her parole officer!" Ben: "Was she going to shoot him?!")
Oh, so Ben ended up flying up on his dad's jet to NY to tell Amy. That went well! Heh, I wonder how Amy is gonna feel when she puts two and two together and figure out that's why all of her family and friends kept ducking her calls!
Degrassi- Oh, ha, I guess they had to get a Drake reference in there. But seriously, if you told me 5 years ago that the cripple kid on Degrassi would be a huge rap star nowadays, I'd be skeptical! Is it me or did Holly J and Jane's racks look awesome in those bikini tops? In any case, interesting way they did things. They kinda fake you out and make you think its the whole Stanford thing and Spinner not being able to deal that will break them up. But they go back to the whole Declan thing from a while back. I totally forgot about that and that Spinner didn't know! Of course, how else was a conversation between Jane and Holly J gonna go that starts "I'm not taking a dip in Declan's pool"?
Ha, so he finds out and breaks up with Jane, then Emma, who had come back from her ridiculous bike tour and he had just hired, accidentally burns down the Dot. Declan: "That just wasn't that guy's day!" HA!!! I like how he's so obtuse about it, like he's not partially at fault for this. I mean, even though he and Jane hadn't been a thing in a long time and it was brief, and he's with Holly J, he still did pursue and bang a girl who was with someone else!
Also, I had heard that the movie would have Jane hitting it big in the music biz, but I wondered about the rest of the band. But given the way things went down, I guess the band would be on Spin's side rather than hers. So she loses the guy and the band. But man, are they gonna be pissed when she leaves the band, randomly wanders NY for a couple days, and becomes the lead singer of some random up and coming band that has a gig on TVM (the Degrassi's universe's version of MTV, ha!), where Holly J just happens to be interning.
But wow, Fiona can be kinda a bitch! HOTT! And her jealousy over Holly J's relationship with her brother is hilarious. Particularly when she got Holly J waylaid with work so she could go on the date Holly J was supposed to go with Declan. And then teasing her about how they got in late the night before and how "boyfriends are temporary, and brothers are forever!" Yeah, that's not vaguely creepy sounding! And then when Holly J gives her her comeuppance and Fiona goes crying to Declan, how else are you supposed to take that look of "Ha ha, my brother picked me!" look Fiona gives her when Declan's not looking? Declan gets tired of their bickering and tells them to get along. Oh, I can think of a way they could all get along!
Oh, and then introducing Holly J to the "Declan's Exes" club, and the other girls bringing up how it seemed like Fiona wanted Declan all to herself. They say it all jokingly, but really, if that happened to more than one of you, shouldn't you be more suspicious?! Although I guess they know the writing on the wall, but maybe Holly J is the only who cared enough to fight Fiona for Declan?
I'm kinda curious how incestuous their relationship actually is supposed to be? Declan's speech the morning after their kiss makes it sound like he was somewhat aware that she was always hanging a little too close to him, so it sounds like it is one-sided. Though does Fiona just want her brother to herself, or does she have "those" kinda feelings toward him? I mean, when you get plastered and end up kissing your brother in front of a room full of your friends, your reaction the next morning should be "OMG, what the frak did I do?!" not see the picture on the front page and joke with him all, "That's a framer!" But yeah, unlike him, who's had a bunch of girlfriends, the only boyfriend she's had so far was a closet case who was using her as a beard!
But poor Fiona, she ends up getting shipped off after Declan tells their mom. Well, given how snobby her mom was, I'm surprised she didn't flip the frak out that a picture of her two children kissing was plastered on the gossip pages. Her actually comforting Fiona at the end was quite a shock. I figured when Holly J was saying how she felt bad about Fiona because she seems so lonely, and Declan was all, she won't be, she has their mom, that we'd cut to Fiona waiting and her mom never showing. But I guess they didn't wanna end on too much of a downer with her storyline?
So, Emma and Spinner? I guess she is one of the few girls Spinner hasn't gotten involved with! But what in the world, trying to cheer him up by challenging him to basketball and asking to be skins? What a slut! Though he was all, "I'd like to see that"! But with all the shenanigans she's done over the years, I'm surprised he hasn't already seen them. Didn't she expose herself in protest at least twice throughout the series? But I digress, even though Emma and Spin not just hooking up, but getting married was kinda random, them coming together didn't seem that forced, they did have chemistry.
(Owel, I'm also glad to see Jay and Manny still together, I've always liked them as a couple.)
But funny how the wheel of fortune turns. The band Jane joins gets their original lead singer back, so she's out, and when the guy inspires her to make another go with Spin, she calls him and finds out about his wedding to Emma. How deliciously cruel! But wow, Declan and Holly J are morons to think Jane wasn't gonna steal his Porsche and drive off once they gave her the keys!
Okay, Spike and Snake's reactions to finding out Emma and Spin got married are hilarious. Particularly when Spike just assumed her daughter was knocked up! Again, I guess given the shenanigans Emma has been through through the years, they have to just roll with the punches and accept it. And heh, did they really just have Liberty for those last couple of scene? She might as well have been just randomly been walking down that stretch of beach!
Manny's kinda gutsy taking Jane on, even if it was a misunderstanding. I mean, that girl looks pretty tough! And she was actually on the football team for that ridiculous "female football player" storyline. When they got into that catfight (spcv('nice!'), Manny was doing all that typical girl fight sort of stuff, whereas Jane basically started swinging her fists. Manny may be feisty, but she's lucky Jane didn't mess her up! They do sing pretty well though.
But I digress, I wasted so much time letting this guy know I was not interested that I missed some of my show! That really grinds my gears!
