You're so effin special!
Jul. 19th, 2010 09:58 amI'm so impressionable when it comes to music played in things like movie trailers and commercials. So, I though the cover of "Creep" in that trailer for that lame looking "Social Network" movie was kinda cool, so I went and looked up who it was, finding the answer here. Apparently, its a Belgian girl's choir called Scala and Kolacny Brothers, one Kolacny brother being the conductor and the other accompanying the girls on piano. Apparently, they did a lot of covers, many of which sound pretty nice- "Creep", "You Oughta Know", (hey, its like some of my go-to Rock Band songs), "Friday I'm In Love", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Yellow", "Enjoy the Silence", etc.
Ah, here's a website that tries to answer questions people may have about Inception. Heh, it even includes a glossary of terms! Ah, I did indeed think "Architect" was a specific job on the team, and not just a generic term for the current dreamer. The architect is the basically the general level designer, and in a outing such as this, he or she will come up with the level design, and then teach it to the dreamer. So the dreamer makes the world, but the mark fills the world with the projections as well as the "stuff" the extraction team came in to steal.
I think of it like this, the mark has some secret that the extractors want. Its rattling around in their subconscious, but when they go into the shared dream state, its the dreamer that imposes the world, and the mark's stuff gets mapped to that. So, the architect builds a heavily guarded fortress that the dreamer dreams up. To the mark, something they want really protected would go in the vault at the center of that guarded fortress. But since the extraction team is the one that created that fortress, they have somewhat of an advantage in breaking into it. But, they might not necessarily know the code to the safe, but they can manipulate things to get the mark to open it for them, and they design the world complex enough so the mark's projections have a hard time finding them and killing them.
Oh, and I didn't know people were wondering why Ariadne, Cobb, and Fischer didn't "burn out" when they went into limbo. Its like geez, the characters say one line about "burning out in limbo" and for some reason some people watching thinks it happens immediately. I thought they explained it pretty clearly- its pure unadulterated subconsciousness, so it'll be so crazy you will eventually go crazy, particularly with the time effects. But its "eventually", not "immediately"!
