TV Commentary:
House- I guess I forget not every character is privy to what the audience knows, because it weirded me out that Andre Braugher thought it was some amazing and keen insight when he discovered House might be upset because of Cuddy. I guess there would be no reason for him to know that. He flirts with her a lot, but people could think that's House being House, so I don't even know if anyone but Wilson, Cuddy, and Lucas know his feelings for her.
Are House's therapy sessions mandated, or can he quit anytime? Like at the end there, did he just quit since he's all miserable even though he was trying to be a better man since his therapist claimed it would make him happier?
Weird, and Zoe Mclellan looks totally different now, beyond having short blond hair instead of long brunette locks. Like facially, she looks kinda different. Of course, people reading this are prolly, who? I think of her as the chick in the Dungeons & Dragons movie who was also one of the "loser" ensigns on Voyager (along with the Boy Who Could Fly/Robot Kid Alan Thicke made in that Disney made for TV movie, Not Quite Human) and was the female version of fat kid from Stand By Me on one of the alternate realities in Sliders. Oh, wait, it looks like she was in a bunch of eps of Dirty Sexy Money and Jag, so people might know her from there.
Gossip Girl- Ah, interesting! So the doctor William was colluding with was Holland? Wait, was she always trying to seduce Rufus because of him, or was it a strange coincidence? I mean, from what they say, she was really sick, and William really did cure her, but then he fell for her again, and when he showed back up in his family's life, he wanted them back? And it was only then that he started that insane plan to make her "sick" so he can cure her and hopefully win her back? Obviously, getting Holland to claim she and Rufus had an affair was part of it, but I'm just trying to figure out how far back she was playing him. If Blair is to be believed, the whole time, because unlike Lily, whom he shares history with, other UES ladies would deem him beneath them?
But anyways, Lily/Chuck and Dan/Nate separately figure out something's up, and separately go to Blair about it. When its just Lily and Chuck, she thinks its a ridiculous scheme to get back in her pants, but once Nate and Dan show up, she's less skeptical. And the gang tries many schemes, but finally blackmail Holland into confessing. Of course, during this whole ordeal, little J is feeling like the UES is the cause of all her problems, so she secretly tried sabotaging the attempts to clear Rufus and expose William. She even goes so far as to warn William when Rufus finds out the truth, but before the rest of the Van der Woodsens know to try and get him to run away and take them with him.
But, the gang gets there in time, and William is all, "I'll show you papers proving Lily is really sick", then he runs away. Serena is crushed, but she manages to catch up to him in time and warn him about the police and give him time to run away. She's pissed at Nate for calling the cops, and actually seeks solace in Dan. Well, nothing happened, because they're step-siblings now!
Speaking of, the gang figures out someone must've tipped William off, and Jenny, in her usual expository ways reveals she was indeed the one who did it. Rufus and Eric are pretty hurt by this revelation- particularly Eric who's all, "If you don't want to be part of this family, no ones keeping you here!"
And lame, Chuck is making one last play for Blair, telling her to meet him at the top of the Empire State Building the very next night. She insists she's not going to, but as she goes out on her date with that one guy from that party (didn't she say she was gonna move on with someone not so random?) it looks like she's thinking about it. Don't do it! It seems like Chuck still doesn't get why she broke up with him. There love for each other was never in question. Its just that she doesn't like the woman she becomes around him. Its not a matter of forgiving each other for past indiscretions, its about changing, and Chuck doesn't seem all that interested in changing his ways. He keeps trying to point out to Blair that they're two of a kind and they should be together because of that, not realizing she doesn't want them to be those kind of people, not anymore.
Chuck- Hey, Anna's back. I think she looks better when she doesn't have too much make up on. But ha, she's trying to give Morgan back his stuff, but since he's busy with important stuff now, he blows her off, which only makes her want him more. (Is that a callback to Carina and how he got to nail her by turning her down?) So in the end, she wants him back, but he doesn't want her if the only reason she wants him back is because he was (unintentionally) ignoring her. Its weird they brought her back just for that. I mean, they write her off the show this season, and they only briefly bring her back to get dumped on?
And what's with Chuck and everyone being all surprised the Intersect might be making him crazy? Cramming all that information and all those skills into him is not normal, of course he should have expected such side effects! And now he's lying about them because Sarah told him the L-word? Anyways, I'm guessing since they went on to say how the dream flashes were for realz, I'm guessing that means Shaw is indeed still alive?
And this, this ep is why they should've told Ellie. Interesting way to bring her into the spy world though- the Ring comes to her as the real CIA and claims Casey is a dangerous man after her father, and could she contact him so they can protect him? I wonder when things come to a head, will she finally know everything, or will they somehow protect her dad/thwart the ring and still somehow keep her in the dark. I don't see how though.
24- Ha, it always amuses me how they throw in computer product placement on this show, its always so clunky. Like the whole, "let us talk over this new Cicso tele-conferencing system!" from seasons past. Then this ep, Chloe rifles through her drawers and is all "Hey, I know, we'll use this Sprint mobile hot-spot to do X", and practically holding it up to the screen. Heh, so wait, now that Jack is kinda "the bad guy", he can do the whole "everything is a ruse" thing to stay one step ahead of CTU. First, there was the whole knowing Chloe was going to try and trap him, but that was part of his plan to get Cole. Then this ep, he purposely calls reporter chick with keywords who knows will be flagged by big brother, so they think they have the drop on him, but that was another ruse so he could get to the Russian assassin guy. Of course, how he knew Dominic was in charge of the manhunt, and that he would send the Russian assassin after him instead of a CTU swat team, I don't know. I mean, I guess Michael Madsen has been monitoring communication, so he might know that its some other guy rather than Chloe hunting him. But Jack doesn't know the extent of the conspiracy yet. Why would he think that to shut him up, they wouldn't use like PMCs again (like with DB Sweeney), or a Spec-Ops team thinking they're doing the greater good (like they did when trying to grab Hassan)? I mean, he has no reason to think that by tricking CTU again, that the US people trying to shut him up would use the Russians to do it!
In any case, he tortures Pavel (though reporter lady freaks the hell out because she doesn't even want to know its going on in the next room), but he won't talk. Of course, some of the questions wouldn't give Jack the answers he wanted. Like, who gave the order to kill Renee. Technically, no one did, he was the one who was freaking out that she'd recognize him. I mean, unless you count the Prime Minister guy NOT ordering him to not kill Renee as being complicit in her death.
And as some people said, I think he might be so angry that he wanted to torture this guy even though he got nothing from him and it was only after checking the phone that he got relevant information. I mean, normally he always checks the phones, and had he done that in the beginning, there would be no need for all that torturing. Or killing and ripping the simcard out of Pavel's guts, since if he checked the phone from the beginning, Pavel wouldn't have gotten the chance to take it out and swallow it.
But its kinda hilarious, because Jack is only getting part of the story and I think his imagination is gonna start running wild now that he knows Logan has something to do with it. I mean, Logan was complicit in the deaths of other friends of Jack, just one more reason for Jack to hate him. And ironically, Logan's involvement is only in the cover up, because he wants the peace process to go through so he can ride on its coattails, but Jack is gonna think he had a more active part in it now. I mean, Jack executed Dana even though she said she had no idea why they killed Renee, and its gonna be the same with Logan. He barely knows who she is, he had nothing to do with her death. But Jack's prolly not gonna believe that.
Speaking of Dana, so they're saying she really did love Cole, and her role in today's events were supposed to be her "last job" for the Russians, and she thought she'd be able to live happily ever after with Cole? And as far as Cole knows, she was a betraying bitch who didn't feel anything for him. After all, the last time he saw her was when that flashbang went off in his face and she knocked him out. He did seem a little sad about her dying, and is a little incensed at Jack for shooting her, just like she said he would.
I find it interesting that he's kind going into a "don't give a frak" mode with the whole "there are no good guys here". The conspiracy is totally messed up, but even though Jack claims not to be, he seems more bent on revenge than anything else. Chloe still has faith in Jack, so Cole does try to be somewhat helpful because he knows Chloe doesn't want Jack to die because they're friends. I guess he figures she might be able to come up with a way to talk Jack down and expose the conspiracy before he kills everyone involved? And heh, Arlo also seemed a little sad about Starbuck's death, prolly because he has no one to sexually harass anymore. Or is that why he's spending more time with Chloe?
