Life Unexpected- Ah, I finally realized where I know Jones from, its Jordan from Ruby and the Rockits. Seriously, could Cate and Baze look more guilty when the chick asked if anything went on between them after HS?! Its like, could they be more obvious with their awkward pause followed by a rush to denial? I actually feel sorry for Ryan's character in all this, I mean, he's definitely the odd man out. Particularly with Cate lying to him like that. But she's also lying to herself if she thinks her feelings are just part of some sort of residual crush on Baze and wanting to have Mr Cool think she's so great.
And Bug is still a jerk. Sure Lux tells Jones that sob story about Bug's life, and that is indeed sucky. But like I said, to me he has all the signs of being an abusive boyfriend. Particularly when Jones and Lux go to give his bike back, and he basically accuses Lux of being a whore and Jones only wanting to hook up with her because she's then doing the whole, "No one will love you like I do". Like I said with last week's ep, to me, it seems like he's trying to cut her off from anyone else who could possibly care for her. I'm glad Cate straightened Lux out on how that's not love. Heh, and so what if Bug does leave her! She's not alone anymore, she will have people who will care for her now.
Then the juxtaposition of Cate attempting to tell Ryan she and Baze did it, and Lux telling Bug about Jones' advances was interesting. Cate continues to lie to Ryan, and basically puts it all on Baze, which is a kinda dick move on her part. Though I can't believe Ryan couldn't tell Cate was lying. Like I thought when she said she didn't sleep with Baze, Ryan would recognize it for the lie that it was, but apparently not! Interesting choice on the writer's part, to make one of the main characters kinda a bitch. Okay, I guess she's really more scared than anything, the way Ryan started freaking out when she was trying to tell him the situation.
As for Lux and Bug, I'm glad he bowed out, because he realized he was becoming an abusive dick. I mean, sometimes the bad boy needs someone to believe in him to keep him from fully falling to the dark side, but they definitely needed to take a break. Unlike Tosh, his reaction to her new life was to rally against it rather than try to help her balance the two lives. So its like boo-hoo, he left, whatever!
That ending was pretty amusing though, with a distraught Lux asking if she should've lied to keep Bug from leaving, which is exactly what Cate did with Ryan. At least Cate realizes she effed up there.
