24- Heh, okay, that's got to be one of the quickest recoveries ever. Okay, so Renee and Jack's plan ends up being a wash because if the other Russians know anything about stolen rods, they're keeping mum. So, she gets into an argument with Leoben, and after he smacks her around, she loses it and stabs him in the eye, then multiple times in the gut. Then Jack tries to snap her out of it and also get stabbed in the gut. Even though it looks bad, apparently its a flesh wound, because when Leoben's 2nd comes in gun drawn, Jack rips the knife out of his gut and throws it into the guy's throat. Then he kills the last guy by shooting him through the walls.
Seriously tho, its hilarious, because they make it look like, "Holy crap, Walker seriously injured Jack!" But nope, apparently he's fine and dandy. Sark's dad sent a squad to figure things out tho after the call, so Jack has Renee hide and lets the Ruskies capture him, hoping CTU can track him to the guys who have the rods after they leave. Unfortunately, they leave through the underground, so all of CTU's surveillance methods are useless. Didn't he see two eps ago, where Leoben did a similar plan to fool their surveillance by sending a fake car first for them to follow? He should know they might apply such simple countermeasures!
And Starbuck's storyline continues to be stupid. How is she not totally effed? And why isn't she surprised that her dumb redneck ex and his dumb friend would frak things up?!
HIMYM- As enjoyable as Barney can be as a character, I can see how people are getting annoyed with his antics. There's no growth there. Actually, there's a regression given his relationship with Robin. Now, I understand part of his character's appeal is being a boyish man-whore, doing anything to score, but characters need to evolve. And he did somewhat with Robin. And I realize they broke them up because they were becoming too much of the focus (the show is "How I Met Your Mother" not "Hey kids, here's a story about your Uncle Barney and Aunt Robin), but surely there was a way to downplay that without both characters regressing. Also, I'm hoping their break is just temporary, and they do end up together in the future. But this whole thing with her co-worker could not interest me at all! Like why does the rest of the gang act like she's gonna marry this guy? Hopefully not!
And Barney is insane. I understand his dilemma, but surely he can learn how to schedule things and meet the next girl after he's done the previous girls! Like why would he bail on them just because the girl calling might be hotter? They might not be! If they're crazy enough to call some random stranger holding a sign on the Superbowl, they're desperate enough to wait for him to call back after they've left a voicemail or text. It seems like such a waste not to hit some of those chyx.
And a quick Lost thought I had, are they gonna pull a Donnie Darko? As Miles brought up last season, what if the incident his dad mentioned in the tape was them blowing up the bomb? I mean, there are things that happened, like his hand getting trapped, that line up with events of the future (well, to 1977, I guess the present of the series). So, like in Donnie Darko, Juliet does set off the bomb and spawns this alternate reality, which plays out. And at the end of the series, something happens in the alternate reality that causes some change in the past in relation to that reality which sets things straight in the normal reality, but never could have happened had that alternate reality not been spawned. i.e., the Donnie Darko jet engine thing, where the jet engine that kills him in the end comes from the reality where he wakes up and avoids being crushed in the beginning by this jet engine that comes from nowhere.
But yeah, perhaps that's what Jacob set in motion by going to everyone off the island, a kind of fail safe that caused them to do what they did in the past to spawn that alternate reality that will somehow undo what Smokey did to kill Jacob.
