Woah, looks like I haven't made a post here since getting up here for Christmas. So, obviously, I'm up in NYC for the holidays. Typical Christmas Eve, good food, followed by the Christmas Choir at 1030 and the 11pm mass, then gift opening after midnight. Went to NJ for Christmas as usual, played a bunch of Beatles Rock Band and Rock Band 2. Saturday, went to LI to use some of those Christmas gift cards. Actually, got a $75 gift card for Lord & Taylors, and with them doing 60% off on winter coats, it totally paid for a new jacket. None of my current jackets had hoods, so it was a good purchase.

Today, hit Manhattan with [livejournal.com profile] 7500centfish and [livejournal.com profile] isabel79. First hit the Keyboard Museum. Well, it wasn't open to the public yet, but [livejournal.com profile] isabel79 arranged an appointment to play some of the keyboards there. It was an interesting enough place, they had some cool stuff there. Got some lunch, then saw the 2:00 showing of Rock of Ages. I've had the soundtrack on regular play on the ipod, but this is the first time I've seen it live. It pretty much kicked ass. Sherrie was played by the understudy, but that was okay, because she was wicked mad cute. I mean, I wasn't sure at first since we were in the nosebleeds, but when I saw her at the Stage Door afterward, she was indeed quite cute. Alas, I didn't get an autograph or a pic or anything. Neither did I get one with Lauren Molina, who plays Regina and is also pretty cute. The first time I saw her after the show, she was selling the "Men of Rock of Ages" Calendars, and I didn't want to go up to her then because I'd feel like a jerk for not getting a calendar. Then [livejournal.com profile] isabel79 asked her for some Broadway Christmas CD thing, and she was gonna come out later to give it to her, but she came out and ran back in pretty quickly after giving her the CD. [livejournal.com profile] isabel79 did get her pic taken with James Carpinello, who is of course the husband of one of my long time crushes, Amy Acker of Angel/Alias/Dollhouse fame. I did not tell him that I thought his wife was totally hot.

TV commentary:

Doctor Who- saw "Waters of Mars" and "The End of Time" last night. The fixed points in time thing is an interesting concept. Well, not the metaphysics part, because its a little non-sensical. Like when the Captain chick was telling that story from when she was a little girl, and the Dalek spared her and the Doctor says its because it knew her importance in history. But in that ep, weren't the Daleks trying to destroy the multiverse on 2008/2009 our time? So if they succeeded, wouldn't it be moot anyways, since she would be dead and can't fulfill her destiny anyways? So it doesn't really make sense for them to let her live because of her place in history, when they are destroying that history anyways?

But the whole Doctor trying to flaunt the rules, "going too far", as it were, to try and save everyone was interesting. He's seen so much death in his travels, he can't help but want to try and change things- he is a "Time Lord" after all. And the last one, so while it is a bit arrogant to be all, I'm making the rules now since the original rule makers all dead, I can see where he's coming from.

Heh, if he didn't want that chick to kill herself, mebbe he shouldn't have told her all that stuff about her future and her family and how she had to die and really sell her on it, then done a 180 and changed his mind. Well, that and then give an arrogant speech about how he can choose who lives and dies now.

And wait, so when Lucy poisoned the Master's resurrection, was the whole being surprised by the Master's followers doing that ritual just an act, and she knew that was coming, so she had her self placed in a position to thwart their eventual resurrection attempt?

I'm a little skeptical. But Donna's starting to remember. Ida know, I actually thought what happened to her was worse then what happened to Rose. When Rose was trapped in that parallel universe, at least she had her memories. It was heartbreaking when he had to erase Donna's memories to save her, because even if it would doom her to die, she didn't want to lose all those times she had. Particularly since she was a better person because of her time with the Doctor. As I said, it was like when River sacrificed herself that one time, she didn't want to change history and not have all those adventures with the Doctor, because they were so amazing.

But the return of the Time Lords? That was a huge surprise I never saw coming! Wonder how that story is going to play out.

James Carpinello touched me!

Hahaha... Had more fun than I expected. Y'all need to suggest shows more often. Maybe I'll crack and see Wicked one day.
