Actually have to show up to work today even though its the furlough time because GTRI isn't on furlough and they wanted someone around just in case.

Saw Avatar on Saturday with [livejournal.com profile] clevemire and the ex-roomie. It was okay. And it ended up being free because the storm knocked out the power and even though they have generators, it messed up the digital projector we were watching it on since we saw the 3-D version. So it died about half way through, and they got it back working 20 minutes later. So got to finish the movie, and got a free pass for a future movie. Ah, and the weird Avatar product placement on Bones suddenly makes more sense.

Afterward, picked up some food at Sam and Dave's, hadn't had that in a while, then headed over to the ex-roomie's to watch BSG: The Plan with the usual suspects. Hoped it might get us in the mood to play the BSG board game with the Pegasus expansion again, but the movie kinda sucked. If you're expecting to see some cool stuff from the cylon side that would illuminate things, you'll be sorely disappointed. So instead, did some Dominion and then a game called Tribune, which was kinda fun.

Sunday, headed over to [livejournal.com profile] zarathrustra94 and [livejournal.com profile] turdburgler's for geek fun. Actually had Johnny's for lunch instead of J Christopher's.

TV commentary:

Dollhouse- So Ballard's back, though he was turned into a Doll (Adele wanted him to be the new Victor, since Victor's contract was up) with Ballard's imprint on it, so he's technically not himself. Particularly since he has some physical brain damage and they had to mess with things to get him back online, and apparently they had to get rid of something that we don't know yet.

But yeah, Victor's contract expires, but not before Adele takes him for one last Miss Lonelyhearts spin. Unfortunately, he turns her down, saying he's in love with someone else (obviously Sierra). Which is cause for some concern, because obviously they don't want this grouping to start manifesting in the field and having Dolls turn down clients. In any case, at first she thinks its a cruel joke they're playing on her because things haven't been good between her and her staff for a while, which causes her to get drunk off her ass the entire ep.

Meanwhile, Victor (or Tony, as he's called in his previous life) gets kidnapped by a military team comprised of former actives. Apparently a military division of Rossum finds suitable candidates from the ex-actives and asks them to join a special forces active-collective sort of thing. I.e., they get implants which make them a hive mind, which should give them tactical advantages, but conversely, wouldn't that mean if you manage to compromise one, you can frak up the rest of them?

So, to rescue him, Echo gets a bunch of bad-ass imprints put into her, so she's now even more tough, and also wakes up Sierra/Priya to help her. Obviously, they're successful, and even though Echo would find them very useful in her plan to free everybody, she tells them to go since they're already currently free, so why bring them back? But it turns out to be moot because they get hit with the disruptor and KOed.

They get brought back to the Dollhouse, and Adele attics them! What follows is a trippy journey through a nightmare world where they hook up with Dominic, who's trying to protect the minds in this attic dream world from some mysterious killer, who turns out to be one of the ex-Rossum founders who got screwed over by his partner. And he's been basically been killing peeps because the real secret behind the attic is that its a collective of human computers- everyone attic-ed had their brain basically used for computing power, and killing the people was the only way he could think of to take the system down. We also see the world of Epitaph One, which is apparently that guy's nightmare world, because he foresaw that apocalyptic world happening.

Long story short, Echo, Tony, and Priya escape/wake up while Dominic and founder guy stay behind to try and do stuff from the "inside". And then we find out them getting attic-ed was Adele's plan all along to try and get info to take down Rossum- she knew there were secrets that she didn't know about in the attic, and sent Echo to discover what they were.

It makes for a nice twist, but why are they so chummy now, and two, who was she playing to, other than the audience? Like why did she have to be all mysterious and say things that made it sound like she was angry and sending Echo to the attic as punishment, and then when the twist happens, we see how Adele's words could be interpreted another way. I mean, in the end, Topher and Ivy are in on the conspiracy, and I don't think there was any one else there, so why be obtuse?
