Friday Night Lights- Damn, Mattie, why you got to be mean to a cutie like Julie? I mean, how awkward was that when she found out he called his mom and grams? Doesn't she deserve a call? (Actually, if Landry got a call and she didn't, that would totally be an a-hole thing to do!) At the very least, if he wanted a clean break just be all, "I'm safe, but we need to take a break for a while" or some such shit. Just disappearing isn't cool. And what was with the weird way they did quiz bowl thing? You'd think they'd have a mike and buzzer at the tables for the teams. What's with this asking the question, and then seeing if someone from one of the teams wants to get up? Like if multiple teams know the answer, are they running up there, knocking each other down to get to the microphone first?
As for the rest of the cast on the team, the whole Landry and Jess thing. So what was the state of things between him and Tyra? Had they broken up? What was with him leaving the long, lame rambling answering machine message for her about meeting at some designated place? Did she know they had to meet there? Or did he call and hope she would show? And then he goes up to Jess all, "things are 100% clear to me now!" Why wouldn't she be all, "Oh, now that this other girl will have nothing to do with you, you're 100% in with me?" Though I suppose him being all, "I have a car and a guitar and one day I might write a song about you and you'll be that girl in the song" was kinda cute. Is Tyra slated to make a guest appearance this season, like will she end up showing right when things start getting stable with Landry and Jess.
Which reminds me, I was amused by Coach and Tami having that conversation later when the cops went to search Vince's locker for a gun and Tami all "Would you have done things differently if they had asked to search Landry's locker"? Because unlike Vince, Landry's actually killed a guy! HA! Its good the Coach went the route, he's not just wanting to lose his new quarterback, but if Vince goes to jail, who'll take care of his sick momma? It would be amusingly ironic, that after showing up at the Taylors to give him the gun he uses to protect himself, he gets killed on his way back home because he couldn't defend himself.
Speaking of his criminal past, that was a weird intersection of story arcs. So the Riggins need money, and Vince's friend makes a mysterious offer? I suppose since they're car thieves, selling stolen parts at the Riggins place?
And what on earth is Tim thinking? Is he a masochist or something? I know Becky's supposed to be 15 on the show, she certainly doesn't look like it, but she was already parading around him trying to get his attention to fulfill her daddy issues. But telling her about her dad's secret family because he cares, then beating him up, and then adopting that puppy so she could be around it? Dude, you're supposed to make her like you less so she'll leave you alone. Even if he isn't interested in nailing her, surely she may start doing things more tempting because he's her white knight and such.
Luke getting injured, haven't they done the star player has a career ending injury already with Street? Although with Jason, he went from star to cripple. With Luke its more like, he has this gift that may help him get out of his current life, but now he may be doomed to be a cattle rancher just like his dad, taking over the family business.
And ha, I knew that one co-worker of Tami's (was he the vice-principal?) was gonna put the moves on her in that party. Well, I guess it was a drunken kiss, but still. And how hilarious is it that he was all, sorry I mouth raped you! HA!
And the whole blue ribbon award, did their quality jump up because they sent all the cast offs to East Dillon?
