every cowboy sings his sad, sad song

Oh, weird, I never posted about this past weekend. Since
clevemire got a bunch of those "welcome to the neighborhood" coupons, been checking out those places for dinner. Friday was Varner's, this bar-type place which we were wondering if it was the place owned by E's parents, since someone said his parents ran such a place. I was quite miffed, because they had a special on fried chicken served on top of bacon-mac and cheese, but I opted to get a burger instead. Not only was the burger meh, but I didn't realize it didn't come with bacon, and
clevemire said that the bacon was actually good! Frickin' frick!
Saturday was a combo b-day for me/going away party for ND (since he's moving to Little Rock) cookout at the ex-roomies'. Lots of his delicious, addictive skirt steak as usual. But he also did the cheeseburgers with grilled-cheese and bacon samiches as buns again. The key is obviously getting thinly slice bread (supposedly one of the Pepperidge Farms ones) for the grilled cheese samiches, otherwise it would be way too big to try and eat.
phatjoe brought over DJ Hero, Rock Band 2 (with the Lego Rock Band tracks), and Beatles Rock Band. I like the mixes in DJ Hero, but as a game it seems kinda boring. Or insane, looking at the expert level. I guess unless you're into DJ-ing, you just don't get into it like RB/GH. I wasn't sure what the appeal of Beatles Rock Band was at first, its like, okay, its Rock Band, but limited to Beatles songs. But we played that once
psyched_out showed up. I didn't realize that you could have up to three mikes, and it does the harmonization thing, which I think is a pretty neat feature. So it was actually quite fun.
Last night, tried Crepe Revolution at the West Village with
clevemire,
phatjoe and
propace. It wasn't too bad. I had the Thai chicken one, which was okay, but my favorite part of Thai food is the peanut sauce, and I couldn't really taste that. I shoulda gone for the smoked salmon one.
TV Commentary:
Dexter- Ooh, looks like this season is headed for an egg-citing end! It was pretty cool to see Dexter and Trinity hunting for each other. Well, when Trinity sees the boy he kidnapped returned to his family with no mention of his involvement at all, he's quite suspicious, and starts hunting for "Kyle Butler", which Dexter finds out when he has to work the scene of a murdered Kyle Butler. So he tries to set a trap, but then Trinity figures out he's not really Kyle Butler at all, and its a nice little cat and mouse. I'm curious though, did Trinity purposely call from that arcade because he knew Dexter would be able to identify it and he was setting a trap, or was that just good fortune on his part that Dexter never found him? I guess he was hiding and waiting and observing the arcade, so it was a trap. And now he knows exactly who Dexter is!
I was a little confused at first when he said he was gonna frame that one guy as being Trinity. I mean, I guess he had to kill him, otherwise when they interrogate fake Trinity that will lead to inconsistencies particularly when they had Christine in custodty. But when he strapped the guy to the table, I was all, "Wait, he's not actually the real Trinity! But I guess he was still a killer, and thus a valid target for Dex but still, at first I was wondering if he's so wound up that he forgot the guy on his table was only someone he was setting up to be Trinity, not the actual Trinity.
Interesting though, even though Trinity basically told Christine he wished she were never born, she does die protecting his secret. She lets them go on believing Trinity is the fake one Dex set up before she blows her brains out.
But Dex knows about neighbor guy kissed Rita after Rita confesses (as does Masuka, who's totally relieved he doesn't have to keep it in anymore), and it looks like she's actually happy he punched neighbor guy, because it means he still has passion for their marriage.
Speaking off marriage, so Batista and Laguerta are caught at their relationship, so the boss man tries to fire them, but they get around it by getting married?! The most hysterical part is that they call in Dexter to be their witness (without telling him beforehand why they're calling him in) and since he's busy with the whole trying to kill Trinity and framing fake Trinity and all that jazz, you could tell he's totally pissed. Its like, you effers bother me for this!?
90210- Weird, what's with the weird new character who looks a lot like Rumer Willis' character? Because it looks like she's still around in the previews. So why does the paper have two nerdy big faced girls?
I'm definitely liking the direction this season is going. As I said in my last post about this show, the Dixon-Silver-Teddy triangle and Naomi-Liam-Ivy triangles both look interesting. Hmm, so Dixon doesn't bother telling Silver the girl she saw Teddy with was his kinda cute sister, letting her think he's still a player (I thought Dixon was all, "He's out" with Silver? What changed?) while Ivy knows Naomi and Liam have feelings for each other so she bows out. Although Liam has to know it is a pretty huge deal when Ivy was all "Its not big" because the girl was practically about to burst into tears!
Overall, it is nice to see the gang all making amends and coming back together. I mean, they even stage an intervention with Annie, which with Ade offering to come forward and say she bought drugs from Jasper getting her back in everyone's good graces. Too bad Jasper reveals he does indeed know she was the one who ran over his uncle. So is he gonna blackmail Annie into staying his gf? And again, how the frick are they gonna resolve this? She practically murdered a guy, at least in FNL Landry did it protecting Tyra!
