Started reading Avatar Press' "Absolution" mini-series by Christos Gage. Its a pretty interesting concept. It's about a government sanctioned superhero who's just seen too much. He's been witness to all sorts of atrocities committed by various criminals (super-powered and not) and its taken its toll, so he starts secretly going all vigilante, and working alongside the police and having super powers to boot, he has the knowledge and ability to get away with it. While the story is quite compelling, it doesn't hurt that one of his nemeses is Happy Kitty, a Japanese speedster chick who dresses in a skimpy school girl outfit and uses katanas and twin pistols.

She does make for an excellent cover girl:

TV Commentary:

Glee- First ep back from the Baseball break, and it was a pretty good ep. Very emotional end. Again, the show does everything in shades of grey. Will is convinced Sue has something nefarious plan for the retarded chick who Sue put on Cheerios to replace Quinn, or that she was crazy. But nope, we find out when Sue isn't being an evil bitch, she has a mentally handicapped sister she takes care of. And even though she's being her usual cruel self during practice, she's just treating the girl like she was a normal person, unlike Will.

But as usual there's a lot going on in this ep. Kurt and Rachel are competing to do Defying Gravity, and, understanding father that he is, Burt sets that audition up, demanding Kurt get the chance to try out for the song, even if its a "girl song". But then his dad gets harassing phone calls all, "Your son is a fag!" and he tries not to let it get to him, but Kurt knows it does. So he purposely blows the contest. Now, he's not going to closet himself so his dad won't have to deal with it, but he does know not everyone is open-minded, so he won't put his sexuality out there in everyone's face.

Then we have Artie and Tina. Artie and Tina kiss, and she comes clean with Artie about how the whole stuttering thing is fake! She started it in 6th grade to get out of an oral report, then to keep people away because she was shy. Artie's kinda hurt, because he liked that they were both handicapped- and while she can just stop pretending to stutter, he's still stuck in the chair. I can see why he's mad (and heh, all the Artie/Tina shippers are sure to be upset), though I think this is only a temporary setback for them. This is the first time their relationship got any attention whatsoever, so they can't all of a sudden just get together. This way they have a potential future storyline getting them back together. Of course, it is weird that they were all chummy at the end of "Proud Mary". But hey, not only do we get a Mercedes/Artie led song, which should make the people all "Finn and Rachel do everything" folks, Tina also has a big part of the song as well.

Finally, the Puck-Finn-Quinn-Rachel square. Okay, Puck and Quinn are kinda sweet together as well though I think all that time spent on fanfiction.net's Glee section has me favoring Puck and Rachel. The show seems to be edging towards Finchel and Quick, but despite Quinn being pretty mean to Finn at times I still think they have their moments, so its hard to say who really belongs with who.
