Nov. 10th, 2009 08:32 amSaw Men Who Stare at Ghosts with the usual suspects (it wasn't too bad, it had some funny lines, thought apparently the former and new roomie both fell asleep at points), then had dinner at Carrabbas. Damn, they must be hurting for business and are trying to drum up more of it, because not only did they charge me for my drink, they even gave us two coupons for a free dessert next time we come in.
TV commentary:
Gossip Girl- I was actually amused by the little J/Eric stuff this week, when it seemed kinda pointless this season. What I love about it was the whole Eric telling Jonathan they can stop Jenny from becoming Darth Vader, but then he's the one who ends up falling to the dark side instead of bringing Jenny to the light.
First of all, it was very hypocritical for him to be pissed about how "Queen" J acts, but apparently its okay to be all manipulative if its for himself (even if he thinks its a "good cause"). And I still disagree with his eff the system over the work within the system philospophy on this whole thing. Better little J as queen over some of these other bitches, because even if she does some bitchy things at times, he still has her ear. Why make themselves outcasts under someone they don't know or even worse, a hated enemy, when Jenny can be on the throne and they can make her into a benevolent despot.
Although its kinda weird that this is the first time they bring up schools other than Constance and true rulership involves having to impress the "ruling class" of those schools too. That never happened when the originals were still in high school, unless we are to assume Blair/Serena had already solidified that power base. Of course, its odd that Jenny is the new Queen anyways, since she was two years behind the rest of them, wasn't there anyone in the class between them who was an appropriate successor? Of course, Blair was Queen as early as sophmore year. Like were the upperclassmen when she started inconsequential or something?
But the threesome hinted at in spoilers was Dan/Olivia/Vanessa? I dunno why they make a big deal about Olivia's new movie not going through so she is staying, because it seems the problem is Dan and Vanessa frakked and that opened up a huge can of worms, and I think that will be a mess regardless of whether Olivia is still there or not.
From the previews, Nate is right to call Dan a moron for doing Vanessa non-chalantly. There's so much history there, if they did hook up, hooking up during a drunken 3some is the worst possible way for them to get together!
Glee- Ah, with Glee starting back up again this week, they're back to releasing new music. Well, the volume I soundtrack came out last week, most of which had already come out as singles. That had the Kurt/Rachel "Defying Gravity" duet, on that, but this week looks like they released two more versions done by just one of them, so there's a Chris Colfer version and a Lea Michele version. I couldn't tell you which one was better, its an amazing song, as I've said countless times before, and I think they both do a great job with it, both by themselves and together. But the new song this week is CCR's "Proud Mary".
