TV commentary:

The Office- Pam was totally hard to read the first half of this ep. Like when she mentioned her mom's age, I thought she knew that would freak Michael out and it was her plan all along. Particularly when Michael was obviously having second thoughts and Jim and Pam were all smiles. But I guess she was actually coming around to them going out? That is kinda dickish to dump her mom and her b-day!

Smallville- Ah, I was correct about them making Candor a repository for genetic information and Zod and the others were all clones of the originals. Not that that wasn't obvious, but I guess they confirmed it this ep.

Friday Night Lights- Dang, this is just a depressing season so far, but hopefully things will turn around. But on a lighter note, heh, there was this one background line where Coach is complaining about Julie "going to school half naked". Which I think is ridiculous because she's like wearing a full t-shirt and jeans in that scene. Sadly, there is nothing close to naked about it! And its not like its even low-cut to display her awesome melons. I get dads have to be all protective and old peeps tend to exaggerate about things like that, but that's just silly!

So last week we met singing Becky (who's mother was played by Alicia Witt?! I totally didn't recognize her) and quick running back Vince. This week we meet Luke, who was using a fake address to play for the Panthers and is forced into East Dillon, and Jess, a hard working black girl whose bike Landry accidentally wrecked.

So Luke seems to be shaping to be new Saracen? He's all nice, and crying and begging to stay when Tami reveals she knows about the fake address, and apologizing, then sucking it up and going to East Dillon. Jess is a little bitchy though. I mean, doing the whole having to work hard to pay for that bike because not everyone can just have their daddy buy them a new car. Its a piece of junk, so do we know Landry didn't save his own money to buy that car?! Though I guess they firebombed his original car (TO COVER UP A MURDER!), so maybe his father got him that piece of junk after destroying the old piece of junk.

Getting back to Luke though, I love how Mccoy was trying to threaten Tami by bringing up investigations that may cause championships to be forfeited so she counters by bringing it up at a Booster meeting all, "Did you go over that with everyone else, they might not want to lose their rings!" HA! But he tries to counter by having people at the rally boo her as she tries to speak all, "We want Luke back!" One, she can wait as long as they can. Sure, it sucks to have a room full of people screaming at you (as Sue Sylvester says, just imagine they're cheering for you!), but does he really think that's going to make her change her mind? I mean, I guess her authority is being undermined, but he doesn't know her very well if he thinks she's going to cry and get Luke back. (And why the eff are they having a pep rally on a Saturday?)

I think its a lost cause, because his plan to stir up shit and possibly have championships taken away isn't going to fly with the boosters, and I think if he tries to get her replaced, she can fire back with that. I mean, it would hurt her husband, but as they've said in a previous season, they'd be messing with the Taylor's livelihood. They already got Coach exiled to East Dillon, if they mess with Tami too it will be war. I think Buddy is the key to cracking Mccoy's hold though. He's already being marginalized on the Boosters, and the Taylor's are the closest things to real friends he's got.

Its weird how confusing the whole thing was for people though. I mean, I thought it was pretty obvious that it was a fake address set up (did they use that for Voodoo?) to get people out of Dillon onto Dillon's team, and with the re-zoning, since it was in West Dillon, they reused it to get an East Dillon person into West Dillon. What is their to understand. And I don't think Coach was lying to Tami when he said he didn't know about it (why would people think he was). I think its a plausible deniability thing. Either the Boosters didn't want him to know, or Coach didn't want to know. I think they've brought this up before- Coach knows the Boosters can do shady things, but it always seemed like the unspoken deal was that they do their best to hide it from him, but if he finds out, he has no choice but to condemn it. (though it confused me why he apologized in the end. Sorry he lied about what?! He seemed legitimately surprised when Buddy showed him the mailbox, so again, I'm sure he didn't know about it/didn't want to know about it. Or since they were trying to go for plausible deniability with him, but he was prolly semi-aware such things were going on, it was kinda like lying when he said he didn't know anything about it?)

In any case, it'll be interesting how Luke integrates into the team and what the town reaction will be.

It still annoys me what morons Tim and Matt are being. At least with Tim, this "better life" has been forced on him. I mean, people should want better lives for themselves, but a lot of those college dreams were Billy's and Lyla's and whoever. He is kinda a lazy bum. But Matt should know better. Getting all mad at weird artist guy being all, "I want to be an artist!" Well, maybe then you shouldn't have taken your wacko grandma out of the care facility when you're in no way qualified to take care of her and thrown your ride to Chicago away!

Now, I'm not saying abandon your sick relatives, but I'm sure if he tried harder he could come up with a better solution than quitting school! Work his ass off to maybe afford a care facility up in Illinois. He should get a career first (though, I know, its not like Art School will get him all that far!) then he'd be able to take care of his grams better.

Oh, the Coach thing kinda annoyed me. I know he's used to not getting questioned and his word is law, but when Landry asked him why he forfeited the game, why did he have to be all "I don't have to explain myself to you!"? Why didn't he tell the truth, because he didn't want to get their asses killed, instead of making himself look like a quitter?! Though since Landry is one of the originals, I wonder if he'll be taking a leadership position, especially since he was the first one to step up. Wait, was that Tinker guy also a former Panther?

And aren't they hurting for cash? I get they're trying to be all symbolic by burning the past, but maybe they shouldn't be burning all those jerseys?!

Anyways, since Tim is basically homeless, Alicia Witt lets Tim rent the trailer behind her house. She claims she won't be knocking up on his door in the middle of the night for a booty call, but who knows? Hey, even if she is looking all disheveled now (though I think/hope the show is purposely trying to make her look blah), I'd prolly throw it in her still. Heh, and she's all, "I'll call my daughter and tell her your coming, since she won't know you." Guess she doesn't know her daughter has basically hanging all over Tim since her mom banged him.

Seriously, wtf though, even though its like the middle of the night, he rolls up in there and she's doing laundry in this ridiculously flimsy nightie?! How long until their frakkin'?! I mean, it'll prolly be a few hours until her mom's shift is over. She can come over all curious, with sexy results! Ooh, wonder if he can score the mother-daughter threesome? I mean, its no Tami and Julie Taylor, but its not bad!

Heh, "some other way". But ha, that scene was in this past ep. Being clueless about actual sports, I find that article kinda hilarious as well, because I indeed thought it was just some random loon at the gas station. So it was supposed to be some clever cameo with the guy playing himself on the way to a game?

Yes, it was. He's the head football coach at Texas Tech and is extremely eccentric.

etc.

It isn't really typical of coaches to act this way...
