geebsGeez, its been getting colder in here as of late. WTF?! And I could not drift off to sleep before midnight no matter how hard I tried. I swear, when I lie there thinking about the time and how I'm not gonna get enough sleep, it makes it even harder to fall asleep.
TV commentary:
Buffy Season 8- Technically not a TV show anymore, but since its canon (and written by the former writing staff, this current arc is by Jane Espenson), I'll throw it in here. Though is it really proper to call it season 8 though? Its been going on a couple of years now, and enough stuff has happened that if it were translated back into TV, it would be more than a season.
One thing annoying about the comic though is that I sometimes can't tell characters apart, particularly since they don't look like their TV counterparts. Obviously, some I have no problem with identifying Xander (b/c of the eyepatch) or Giles (b/c of the glasses) or Warren (b/c of the lack of skin). And for the most part I can pick up on Buffy and Willow. People like Dawn, Faith, and Kennedy, I can't tell its actually them until I get some frame of reference. I mean, if you told me to pick out Andrew, Riley, or Oz right now in the comic, without having any dialogue boxes, I don't think I could do it.
But woah, there's one thing that came as a shocker in this latest ish. I can't believe they went there. Xander and Dawn?! Really?! I mean, Dawn is a total piece of ass, and there was that ep where Xander was all, "Me likey!" before he realized it was Dawn. And lets not forget she had a huge crush on him initially.
I mean, I think they've shared their moments on the show (like in Potential when Xander tells her he's the one who sees things and how he see's that she's not special, she's extraordinary) and in the comic (they spent a lot of time together when she kept transforming into different things)
Now, is Buffy mad that Xander's kissing her little sister? Or jealous? Because it seems they have been getting closer as well. I mean, with Angel and Spike doing the LA thing (I don't even know if she knows Spike's alive yet), and the ratio of women to men being huge because of all the new slayers, there's only three guys around- him, Giles, and Andrew. They're not gonna do a thing with her and Andrew, and her and Giles would be almost incestual. She and Xander wouldn't be too far-fetched. Still, does that mean Xander's kissed every main female character now?
10 Things I Hate About You- Again, the whole Joey and Cameron diffs from the movie are disconcerting. I mean, Joey's "Fivehead" nickname for Bianca is cute, particularly since he doesn't see it as an insult, while Cameron's ultimatum comes off as creepy. It was fine in the movie for Cameron to tell Bianca off, but I dunno if its because its only a half hour show, but we rarely see any evidence of their actual friendship. I mean, if there was more of the way he was in "Dance Little Sister" (well, before you found out he stole that guy's phone), their friendship would be more believable. But her being all, "You're my best friend!" just rings a little false.
Anyways, Bianca kissing Joey "just one more time" is kinda retarded, because, couldn't they have ducked behind a wall rather than in front of the window right in Chastity's line of sight? I thought Bianca was dead meat, but apparently Chastity didn't get a good look?
But with Bianca's storyline open like that, hopefully they'll get another season. I mean, if you disregard that, Kat sticking up for her beliefs and riding off with Patrick could be a reasonable ending, but hopefully its not the end end.
90210- Interesting bunch of changes this season. Ethan is gone gone. Heh, they didn't even let him finish up his time on screen. All we get is a text message to Silver all, "I'm moving to Montana!" Speaking of Silver, looks like she, Adrianna, and Naomi are back to being friends, and I think it works.
Too bad Dixon turned into a dick. Of all the things Silver has done, I think not mentioning she was texting Ethan and kissing him that one time (or was it kissing him back?) is low on the list. And she's nutso! Isn't he worried what dumping a crazy person like her might do? Well, I'm surprised her friends aren't more concerned. And then when Annie tries to tell him about hitting the one guy (who was in a coma, then died!), he thinks she's about to admit to really sleeping with Liam. What a jerk, he believes Naomi over his own sister? Hopefully that arc gets resolved soon, because I'll find it ridiculous if, now that Liam is back, that she doesn't learn it was her sister, and not Annie he banged.
Of course, its hard for him to be all, "I'm really sorry for cheating on you, but, oh btw, it wasn't with Annie, its with your older sister!" Then again, he did think what Jen did was totally effed up, so mebbe he would want to warn Naomi off on what a monster her sister is.
Other changes, so the family's moved to a more modest neighborhood, and I didn't notice it until people mentioned it on the forums, but there was a lack of Kelly. I guess she was always just a special guest star last season. But it was still the summer, so that might explain the lack of her and Mr. Matthews.
Oh, new character- Teddy. Apparently Ade's ex camp-bf and son of some super famous movie star. And ridiculously old to be playing a teen. I mean, when Naomi first set her sights on him, I was all, geez, that one guy she'd been seeing is married to Serena "Is it Because I'm a Lesbian" Southerlyn, hasn't she had her fill of older men? But then he sees Ade and is all, "Oh, we went to camp together! I'm coming to West Beverly!" I mean, him being a high schooler is laughable!
But he sabotaged Silver and Dixon, maybe because he has his sights on her? I guess even though Navid was jealous, he didn't have a real interest in Adrianna other than rekindling their close friendship. And the third monkeywrench he's showing? He's the one who drove the car that stopped after Annie hit that guy. But didn't it have a West Bev sticker? And he's only now matriculating there?! Who has the bumper sticker of a school they don't go to!? But he recognizes Annie, but doesn't say anything.
Speaking of Annie, so she gets drunk and some guy bangs her. Wait, I can't remember if she had done it last year, does that mean she lost it to some random loser? But him filming it, isn't that child pr0n, since she's underage? Then again, I guess Naomi was doing that one guy and no one is yelling "Stach!"
