Wow, finally, a post not about exalted.

TV commentary:

Royal Pains- Weird, was this ep supposed to be the real second ep instead of last weeks? But what's with all the Gossip Girl stuff? I mean, in the pilot, Hank's brother joked about having an orgy with the cast of Gossip Girl, but it did have Bex and Poppy Lifton, now this ep had Hazel (whom I saw was gonna be in an ep) and also Eleanor Waldorf. And they were at Nate's grandpa's house! Although that house (The Old Westbury Gardens) has been in multiple things, like these two shows, plus Cruel Intentions and a bunch of other movies. Its to rich tv/movie NYers like Torrance HS (used in Buffy, 90210, She's All That Movie, Not Another Teen Movie, Bring It On, etc) is to California tv/movie high schoolers.

Burn Notice- I've seen some disappointment on the forums that Moon Bloodgood isn't intimidating as some of Michael's other nemeses, like Bly, or Carla, or Tim Matheson's character. But I don't think she's supposed to be scary as them, she's a cop who doesn't know Michael's sitch, just that he seems to be around some big explosions and other questionable activity. She may threaten/endanger Mikey's family/friends (well, with jail time), but she can't do the sort of stuff these other folks have since she doesn't have the contacts or backing they do. I think it is supposed to be ineffective bluster- in a way, she can and can't "give as good as she gets". I mean, she's just a cop, but even just blindly stumbling around, she can cause huge problems for Michael and company. What makes it interesting is he has to walk a fine line with her, because she is a "good guy", he can't take the same steps he does with others.

I mean, whenever he doesn't actually get people to kill each other, he does make it so people flee Miami because they're afraid of someone else, or get in trouble with the law. With Bly and that guy from that Embassy, he blackmailed them by making it look like they were dirty. And that's part of the spy game. Even though he did endanger her career with the mayor's aide stunt, I think its similar to his "not actually killing someone, but setting up a situation where they can get killed for their wicked ways". He didn't do anything that could falsely accuse her and ruin her career, but he did put up a roadblock that would get her in trouble (and did get her partner in big trouble), but not reflective of anything bad on her part. Rather than besmirching her rep like he does usually, he made it so her bosses would kill her investigation. Which was getting dangerously close to finding stuff. Fi and Sam are no saints, but they did bring up Barry and Seymour, who are people he gets help from that he's sort of friendly with, but have enough on them to put them away, and denying him a useful asset. While he wouldn't want to lose the ability to call on them, I would think he wouldn't want to screw them over if he could help it because they've done him some pretty big solids in the past.

It did kinda suck for Nate, that he thought he was finally doing good in a legitimate business, but was just being used as a pawn. And heh, Madeline is wising up to their schemes- noticing that Nate got hurt the same time Sam, Fi, and Barry were into something. But wait, what if something mysterious does happen to Brennen's daughter? Its not like he is in a safe career, he's still an arms dealer. So if a different enemy does something to his family, and he has no clue who did it, doesn't that mean he's going to go after Michael first?!

But it was nice to see him again, he was definitely one of Michael's past enemies who I thought would be dangerous and might go after Michael when the Organization's protection was pulled. If one of the several criminal organizations he's tricked into killing some person of theirs find out they've been tricked, Michael could be in big trouble.
