Saw Terminator: Salvation with
clevemire today. It was okay. At the very least, the robots looked cool. Though like the series, the ease of killing a terminator changes with plot convenience. Seriously, there were times where it was NBD (a couple of kids take one out!), then other times, they're well nigh unstoppable, and you wonder how the resistance could have come to be, given if one of these were so much trouble, how would they handle a whole army of them!?
Oh, finally caught the unaired version of the Glee pilot. I think the unaired vsersion was much better, and makes a little more sense. (Seriously, there were some conversations in the aired pilot that sound weird, but that's because they cut out some vital lines for time!) And they cut out Will doing a nice version of "Leaving On A Jet Plane", as well as the actual performance where Will won in '93 that Emma references and you only hear the audio of. But yeah, I think this version characterizes the cast a little better. Like how much sadder Rachel is under that diva facade, or how much more of a struggle the whole thing was for Finn and how much he actually did want to sing, and how much Will wanted the club to be for the kids what it was for him. You also get a little back story of how their glee club went from champions to the loser club it is now and how the Cheerios rose to fame.
So when Bob from Heroes took over the club, he made it a little too chorus line-y (literally!), so they steadily declined, and most of the good performers jumped ship to the cheerleading squad. That's also what the principal meant about taking back the stools when he let Will take over Glee club, as the club had been utilizing them in their chorus line numbers.
But again that was one of the conversations that made a little more sense in the extended version. Like Emma saying she gave her number to some fireman. I mean, it seemed kinda weird she was all, she didn't go the singles mixer, but then she gave her number to someone, as if she actually did. But yeah, there was a fire or something in her building that day, so that's where she met said fireman. Similarly, it seemed odd when the principal wanted to end the club to give it to AA, but Will was all "if we don't win regionals, you can have the stage". I mean, it seemed like he was being bold with the demands, and the principal for some reason acquiesced, but there was a little more back and forth there. I mean, you still got the gist of the conversation, but it did seem to flow weirdly.
One thing I disliked them cutting was the extended version of the locker room scene when Will was trying to get people to join. In the longer version, Puck is all, "I can sing", and you see Finn actually get excited, like he's thinking, "All right, I can join this singing thing and no one will care." But of course, Finn just goes up there to fart and poke fun at the whole thing, and when he's done, he asks Finn to give him five. I think that better showcased him struggling with wanting to sing but at the same time not wanting to be uncool.
But, the aired pilot still worked in the end. It just that the unaired version was better. Hopefully they'll air the latter in the fall.
