I need bigger pockets. Or more pairs of cargo pants. Of course, I could just try to carry less stuff. I mean, I have a leatherman and my hiptop on my belt, but in my pockets, I have my supposedly "George Costanza"-ish wallet (I must protest though, because my wallet isn't nearly as big as his was), a comb, a scapular with various other holy medallions on it, my key chain with various keys, a mini-led flashlight and a flash drive attached, lip balm, earphones, and my ipod nano.
You know, I never commented on this past week's Dollhouse. An interesting ep, I was disappointed when I learned it was gonna be a CotW ep, but it wasn't too bad. The CotW was more interesting than previous ones. Heh, I can't see how Margaret/Julia didn't see her son trying to put the moves on her coming. I guess she didn't know her kids, but even not knowing her son was a womanizing gambling addict, she had to see where that one conversation was going. Though you think he would be a little more offended when she reacted with almost violent nausea at the thought of kissing him. (But heh, glad they added that he only figured out she was his mom after the whole trying to mac on her thing)
Interesting though, it wasn't until the recap, but I dunno if it was just because it was a CotW, or because Margaret was a whole, real personality, rather than a created, built up amalgam, but we never got any of the Echo/Caroline personality bleeding into the imprint this ep. Also, another thing, they bring up the whole Dollhouse being able to grant immortality thing as if it was something new this ep, but when you really think about it, since the amalgams are based off of real people, its been happening already. Like the ep where Echo was a hostage negotiator. She had that one chick's memories who killed herself, so in a way, wasn't that an example of them "resurrecting" someone? The imprints are kinda a way for people to live on.
Maybe I wasn't paying attention, or maybe I'm desensitized or something, but I wasn't nearly as disturbed by Helo and Mellie as some other people were. Yeah, he finally succumbed and did what he was criticizing the clients of the Dollhouse of doing. I think one of the main criticisms of the show comes from the pseudo-rape that comes from the Dolls being personalities imprinted on mind-wiped people. And since someone/something else is driving the body, its rape. Hmm, that might be the case for Sierra since she was made a doll by some creep. But for people who actually signed the contract, aren't they consenting to have people do to their body whatever? I'm not saying its okay, I'm just saying its a muddy situation. You can argue they don't know what they're agreeing to, or its always rape if they're not in control, but I don't think its that clear cut. I do think Helo sleeping with her knowing she was a Doll was a neccesary plot point, to show how far he's fallen, how much the Dollhouse has defeated him.
The whole fingerprints being erased after the search was a little nonsensical though. Why wouldn't her fingerprints been wiped from databases already, instead of only when someone accessed it, so they can see it existed and get erased. And shouldn't that mean they'll know something's up, so now Helo AND that one FBI should be on their radar! And they'll know he knows Mellie is a doll.
Oh, as for the Topher subplot, it is interesting that for his a doll for a day thingie he made a bro. Personally, I don't think there was any off-screen sexing. I don't think his goal was to make a hot chick who was also his best friend, I bet the whole scenario would've played out the same way had it been Victor or some other male doll. I mean, having a hot chick play out some weird fantasy, that's kinda prosaic. And he's prolly seen it all. What he prolly wants more than that is someone who "gets" him, which is why he chose that over a sex-toy. Of course, given we're only see his "indiscretion" for this b-day, who knows, mebbe he's already done the sex thing a previous time, and now that that's out of his system, he wants to do something more with his once a year doll usage.
