Today, finally got around to downloading the VPN client off the software distribution site so I can do certain work things at home. Then, hit Cumberland to sell some old ps2 games. Had some lunch, did some shopping, and afterward visited [livejournal.com profile] turdburgler at the hospital.

TV commentary:

Friday Night Lights- An interesting end to the season, though I'm curious what the next seasons hold now that the show has been renewed. Like, didn't most of the characters graduate now? And given Landry wasn't mention at the senior pancake luncheon, does that mean he's not graduating this year. I know he's secondary to Matt, Tim, Lyla, and Tyra, but they went over the rest of their plans, if Landry is a senior, I would think they'd have a small line saying his plans. Plus, when Tyra was back to moping and feeling sorry for herself, she was all, Landry doesn't know her life, he can do anything. And I would think if he was graduating this year and going to college, she would be all, "You already got accepted to so and so". And yeah, he was at the luncheon, but I think that was just as Tyra's date. It is ridiculous though if he isn't graduating, because that means he was a frosh that first year, and what the hell is he doing driving a car that young?

But anyways, he and Julie might still be around (Oh, Lancie! I keed, that would be way too weird). They coulda kept Tyra b/c of the wait list, but nope, she got into U of T. Buddy managed to get some money from his brother to send Lyla to Vanderbilt. And even though Lyla was all, she doesn't need to go, she wants to be with Tim, he insists she go. And then Tim wants to drop out of San Antonio State (is this a real school? Because they disparage it a lot this ep, like its the worst college to go to or something) and help Billy fix cars, but Billy pulls a Good Will Hunting and insists Tim go so they're kids can believe they can make something of themselves. Although the analogy kinda falls apart since Tim didn't get in because of hard works or smarts. Yeah, he played well, but he didn't even try and was basically given the opportunity despite his best effort to piss it away.

Well, Matt might stay. He feels so bad about sending his Grandma to a nursing home, and it seems like when he took her to the wedding, he said he was gonna take her home-home afterward. Wait, so is he giving up his college dreams to take care of his Grandma?! Its kinda noble, but shouldn't he get a college education so he can get a better job so he can take better care of her later?

In the grown up part of the show, Mccoy tries to strong arm Coach into letting Wade call the plays and take over for Mac. But when Coach refuses to be coerced, Mccoy goes for the jugular and tries to get Coach outright replaced by Wade, throwing around his money and his son's golden arm to get the people to support him. It was odd though, because Buddy is relativelyloyal to Coach, and I would think Mac would be pissed that this guy jumped him and became head coach, so you'd think Coach would have more supporters. I mean, even Buddy seemed surprised and mad that Mccoy and Wade visited that one kid already, so I would think he would try and support Coach if not for the fact that while Wade would replace Coach, Mccoy would usurp Buddy.

I was a little confused about the ending. Yeah, East Dillon is decrepit. But was that Dillon at least showing him some loyalty? Or was it an F U, you can coach this crappy new school? The roomie at dinner before the ep was thinking mebbe the fallout of the thing between the Taylors and the Mccoys would have Mccoy going to East Dillon and throwing his money around to build it up. But I guess the opposite happened, and Mccoy took over Dillon (now West Dillon?) and Coach exiled to East Dillon.

But yeah, its definitely better than nothing, but I am unsure of what the council's mentality was when they did that. I guess they could've just fired him and be done with it, so its somewhat good. Is it a covering their bases thing? They basically re-districted everything so original Dillon got all the good players. But Coach proved he was good at molding something out of nothing. So are they saving him so if Mccoy doesn't work out, East Dillon might be decent under Coach's leadership, so they have at least two chances to go to state? Or is it keeping him close so if the whole Mccoy thing blows up in their faces, they won't have to go far to beg Coach to come back? And I guess Tami is still principal of Dillon, so they'd be working for opposite schools. So that might cause some tension. Interesting.
