Okay, so mebbe years of watching TV and movies has made me a little paranoid. Like I've expressed on here multiple times skepticism at hitch-hiking/picking up hitch-hikers, because you never know if the person is some psychopathic serial killer. Or taking cross-country road trips being the surest way to meet a horrible end at the hands of inbred cannibal-rapists. And along the same line, backpacking through Europe and staying in hostels is a quick way to get tortured and killed by anti-American weirdos.
Other dangers of being in other countries, particularly for the ladies. Some young, sexy, European dude chats a girl up acting so frickin' cool and thinking he's so great because he seems exotic to these naive American girls. He's just trying to get her to smuggle drugs (even if she'll most likely get caught and thrown in some horrible foreign prison) or kidnap her to sell her to the sex slave trade!
And who drives a secure convoy and actually stops for some hot chick with a broken down car? aav('Its a trap!') As soon as you stop, thinking its like some pr0n where it will end in sexy results, some terrorist commando will snipe you or cut your throat so they can steal/kidnap/break out whoever/whatever you're escorting!
On the other hand, TV/Movies will also have you believe that if you're some Richie kid who refuses protection, so your father assigns a bodyguard who goes secretly undercover as your college roommate or you end up meeting someone who you hit it off with while vacaying in some other country, even though they're a secret bodyguard, the love/friendship that develops is real. So they'll feel real guilty about having to lie to you, but in the end, you forgive them. So it works out in the end! So while TV and movies are full of lying liars who lie, not all of them are out to get you.
