I was Romeo, she was the Scarlet Letter

I need more sleep! And even though I watch too much TV, I can't even blame it on that, because I only watched Gossip Girl, Chuck, Heroes, and 24, and since the latter three were off the DVR, I could skip commercials, so that's not even 4 hours. (heh, I still have HIMYM, OTH, House, Secret Life, and Kyle XY!) So I turned in before midnight, but still couldn't get to sleep until nearly 1. This is total BS!
TV commentary:
On last night's GG, Chuck, Nate, and Vanessa just seemed shoehorned into the ep as an afterthought. I mean, Chuck at an Eyes Wide Shut-type secret society party, falling for some random, and then she mysteriously disappears after revealing things to him? But all N/V had going was being skeptical of Chuck's claims, and then getting all turned on by the concept that they turned it into a little kinky game for themselves. But I guess that gave them something to do. Eric wasn't even in the ep, and Jenny just made an obligatory appearance for exposition, and so they could make the meta crack about her racoon make-up.
The main storyline though, it was retarded that the school was going to expel Blair for her Gossip Girl post. That's a bit excessive, and it wasn't even libel! Okay, the Mary Kay Latourneau comment may have been excessive. But all she did was post that she noticed some impropriety going on between Ms. Carr and Dan and its the people who let their imaginations run wild. But even though they hadn't been sleeping together, their relationship was improper! She's a teacher, and he's a student! Yet they're hanging out all the time by themselves. Hey, I can understand wanting to connect with the students and be their friend, but there's a line. I mean, even her relationship with Serena is a little too close. In some ways its a little worse, because Serena actually is her student. How can she grade fairly if they're "friends"?
Interesting though, she gained a victory at school, but lost her father's respect in the process. Oh, and conversely, Rufus loses a bit of Dan's respect, because he voted to have Ms. Carr fired to protect his son even though no affair was going on and Dan thinks it was himself who was the one overstepping boundaries, just like those rich UESers using their money and influence to get their kids out of trouble. Though again, even though Dan thinks Ms. Carr isn't culpable, she kinda is. Sure, he was the one who tried hugging her. But them meeting at an out of the way cafe where she's looking for comfort? ccv('Inappropriate!') Unlike Blair's assumptions, I don't think you can fault Serena for thinking something was going on. Its not like Ms. Carr objected that strongly when Dan was getting a little too close. In fact, she even said, "If you were at another school..." before saying the whole, "look me up when you're older" thing!
And it was prolly only a matter of time too. Maybe you can possibly chalk it up to being upset at losing her job, and they think she's sleeping with Dan already, so might as well, but had all this not happened, I think they would've ended up sleeping together even though she was still a teacher. They were obviously both thinking about it!
And how many friggin times are Dan and Serena going to break up?! If there's always something messing everything up, then move on already!

Yeah, the whole 3D gimmick on Chuck was pointless. I mean, it might be nice for the Sarah in the nightie (geez, you could see right down the top of that thing!) crawling up on Chuck scene, but otherwise it kinda sucked, especially if you didn't have the glasses and were stuck watching the off-colors. Damn, I thought I had some 3d glasses somewhere, from when I went to engineering camp and we went to the Hayden Planetarium. But I couldn't find them.
Interesting that they didn't drag the whole Chuck not trusting Sarah thing because she killed that guy in cold blood out. I mean, its a good thing, but it was a little surprising that it was resolved so quickly.

So on Heroes, Nathan and Bennett are rounding up the Heroes to protect the country? Heh, they grabbed Hiro, I wonder if anyone realizes Hiro is powerless? And I guess Peter did lose everything, since he was wishing he was stronger. I know he's talking in general, but I also assume he doesn't have the super strength and thus was unable to rip through the car to get to the person he was too late to save, and not that he needed even more strength. And what a moron! He actually hugged his brother when Nate was all, "Give your brother a hug!" How could he not smell it was a trap? It is interesting he's willing to throw Peter to the wolves, but not Claire, even though I think she is just as defiant.
And what's up with them giving Parkman the future drawing power? I guess they needed a good guy with it, so they were all, "Let's give it to Parkman!" And what was with Hiro wanting to mentor Ando into becoming a hero? As Ando said, his power isn't that useful without other powered people around. He only really works with a team that he can charge up. I guess he might work against powered villains, possibly overcharging them and causing them to hurt themselves. But again, given they have powers, it would be difficult for him to even get close enough to touch them without getting hurt. And overcharging a bad guy might not be the best tactic. Even if he does end up taking himself out, the baddie might take a whole lot of others with him!
And meanwhile, they have Sylar off searching for his real dad? So the watchmaker was really his uncle, and his real dad is the brother of the person he thought was his dad before the whole Petrelli lie? I'm still miffed that they changed their minds and were all, "It was all a trick!" It was fun to see Sylar kick the ass of the hunters. Obviously, they were not briefed well.

Wow, they resolved the CIP device thing quickly on 24. The threat is over? But I guess they still haven't gotten close to uncovering the conspiracy. They better hope they do, otherwise all those people died for nothing! But, now that Tony and Jack are no longer undercover, does that mean Walker can go back to the FBI so her boss won't be so mopey?
I find it hilarious the First Gentleman was unconscious on the floor for most of the ep. And what's up with the whole Dubaku having an American gf who's a kindly innocent waitress development?

Date: 2009-02-03 10:35 pm (UTC)It might be the case. Peter and Hiro were too powerful (its okay for Sylar, because he's supposed to be the bad guy and thus more dangerous), so it might be a sort of reset button. Hiro loses the mastery of time and space (and now Peter has no one to absorb it from either), and Peter doesn't have all the abilities that should make everyone else a joke to him so they don't have to come up with BS reasons why he actually would run into trouble dealing with things.
