Alas, the new Psych/Miami Vice commercial (I assume that's what they're going for) is nowhere near as cool and amusing as the Monk/Magnum PI one.
I have a theory on the Cylons and Starbuck. I'm convinced the "humans" of the colonies are just another set of cylons. I don't mean they're cylons who think they're human, but given how hard it is to differentiate between the humanoid cylons and humans (its not like they're terminators, and just skin over a robotic endoskeleton, they're pretty much organic), what is human, and what is cylon? Perhaps the humans from the colonies are just another breed of cylon, with slight differences from the cylons they created, as well as the Earth/13th tribe cylons.
And that's how Starbuck came back. Perhaps Earth has an equivalent of the resurrection ship, but with the wiping out of the entire planet, it couldn't handle the load and did nothing, or whoever blew up everything turned it off/didn't let peeps resurrect. But when Starbuck found Earth, what actually happened was that she did slip through some sort of wormhole and was transported to Earth, crashlanding and dying. But since she's the first humalon the Earth hub has seen in 2000 years, it resurrected her and her ship (not knowing a viper was just a dumb machine, and not living like the raiders) and sent her back to the fleet. Yeah, its pretty thin, I know.
Saw some previews of the Lost and the Damned content for GTA IV (kinda sucks that its only for the 360), and there's some pretty cool stuff in there. Supposedly there's new music on the soundtrack, I'm curious what they added. But anyways, since your character in this one is a biker, they've improved the bike physics/controls so its harder to get knocked off and the bikes are easier to control. Plus, cool new weapons- the grenade launcher packs a big explosive punch, but is not as cumbersome as the rocket launcher, not to mention easier to aim than grenades and thus easier to arc your shots over cover. There's an automatic shotgun, which is obviously lethal as hell, given its a friggin' automatic shotgun. Then, there's the sawed off shotgun. At first, I was wondering, what would it have that the other shotguns don't? Looks like it can be used while in a vehicle. Which is pretty potent, given how destructive the shotgun is. A few well aimed shots and you'll be taking out enemy vehicles left and right! Supposedly the new story is pretty rich and worth the $20 cost.
I hear there will be more DLC chapters coming for the game, and I think that's a pretty good marketing strategy. Instead of having users wait years for the next game, satiate them and keep them playing the old one by continually adding missions and new content. I mean, its a rich world and game engine, so instead of starting from scratch and coming up with something new, why not just build on it with new stuff?
Say what you will about how much they charge for the DLC songs on Rock Band or Guitar Hero, but it is a cool feature. I have all the karaoke revolutions, and truthfully, there's little change in the system between games. It makes more sense to pay for new songs piecemeal rather than pay the price for a whole new game for several songs you may or may not like.
