Finally got to see the first act of Whedon's Dr. Horrible a few minutes ago. I had tried yesterday, but the servers were too bogged down or something. I enjoyed it, its clever and catchy. I knew NPH could sing, because I remember hearing he played Mark on Rent. (Though while he looks like a Mark, he doesn't really sound like a Mark.) But it was very weird to see Captain Mal singing though. Heh, of course, the whole thing with Doogie liking Vi has me thinking about HIMYM and the BrOTP and how that's gonna play out. But I digress. All in all, I thought Dr. Horrible is pretty amusing so far.

But while we're on the subject of musicals (Ooh, Mamma Mia comes out this week, righteous!), what's up with them having a reputation for being queer?

1) Musicals. What's gay about telling a story in song? Because that's all musicals really are. They're just catchier since you can sing along.

2) DP/"Devil's Threesomes". Totally not gay, unless the two guys do stuff with each other or share a hole.

3) Professional wrestling. So what if they're shirtless and holding each other? They're performing fighting manuevers! There's nothing gay about beating someone's ass!

But I will admit that shipping is totally gay. So you're prolly thinking, "If you were any more queer, you'd be hanging out in a gay bar!" Like I am here, with me brudder [livejournal.com profile] sparkyboy:

But yeah, this is the place he made me drive him and [livejournal.com profile] isabel79 two Saturdays ago that I posted from. It wasn't very 'mo though. I mean, look at those colors! And where's the foam machines or people dressed in leather or mesh shirts? And don't get me started on the music. Other than Dame Shirley Bassey's cover of Pink's "Get This Party Started" the music wasn't very gay. Like I didn't once hear "I Will Survive" or "Don't Leave Me This Way"! Nothing fabulous about that place at all!

Mamma Mia is completely gay!

I still find it funny your Bro wants to see it this weekend while I want to see The Dark Knight.

Anyway, I'll leave you with Mamma Mia from The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Guy Pearce... So hot...

Well, its gay if you sing it like that!

But I definitely want to see Dark Knight, I just thought it was next weekend rather than this one.

Not all musicals are gay but many are and Mamma Mia is definitely.

As for the devil's threesome, while I have no problem with it, there is definitely an aspect of gayness/bisexuality to it. First of all, what are the chances that you're not gonna accidentally touch something if you're doing a DP? Not very good. Secondly, you are performing a sex act with a dude. Doesn't matter if you touch him or not. If you and another dude got together in a bedroom and jerked off without touching each other, that would be gay. Adding the girl doesn't somehow erase the gay quotient.

Pro wrestling is not gay at all.

Adding the girl in totally erases the gay quotient! If the girl is there, it makes the situation way less weird! Like if two guys were watching TV and a pr0n came on and they got so excited they both rubbed one out, that's definitely abnormal, because guys shouldn't be doing that in front of each other. But if they were just sitting around with some chick and she was into the both of them, that's different!

I'm pretty much with Joe. I watched the Dr. Horrible, and the first few minutes were really good, but it fell apart once the singing started. Although Nathan Fillion was great.
