great, I milked through my last t-shirt!
Jun. 21st, 2008 01:07 pmThursday/Friday night TV commentary:
What's with these new 2 minute mini-sodes of Degrassi: TNG on the N? I didn't think Canadian shows were affected by the Writer's Strike, but why haven't there been any new eps? That's the only reason I can think of them showing a bunch of mini-eps rather than having actual eps. But yeah, if you're at a party with your current girlfriend and three of your exes are there, and in a game of Truth or Dare they ask you, who was the best kiss you've ever had, why would you not say your current girlfriend, even if its not the truth? Its either that or the dog house. And wait, who is Emma dating right now, I forget. Apparently she's seeing someone, if Jay's telling Sean it might not be a good idea to see her right now. And I'm skeptical that Manny is disinterested in the fact that her best friend's boyfriend(or ex now, apparently)/her fiancee's best friend just got out of the Army to see her friend even though she's apparently seeing someone else? Instead, she's more interested in hearing if her ex boyfriend thinks she's a better kisser than his current gf or other exes?! Some friend she is!
Last night's Doctor Who had an intriguing concept that I'm surprised they hadn't addressed yet in the series (though I'm not sure if they covered it in the old Doctor Who) Given how much traveling the Doctor does through time and space (sometimes visiting the same time/place several times!) I'm surprised its only now he's met someone who knows him in his future. Well, I guess Queen Elizabeth apparently knew him in the Shakespeare ep and he hadn't met her yet, and "Blink" was a whole crazy mess with the future self of that chick had to give a past version of the doctor so him in the future of that meeting could contact her previous to their actual first physical meeting so he could get out of the mess he and Martha were stuck in. Does that sentence even make sense? But those were just brief meetings.
I assume River Song is a future companion or something? Though if she were I think she'd pick up on the fact she was interacting with a version of him who hadn't yet met her, particularly since he was the youngest she'd ever seen him at the library. But if she has a diary, they apparently had a lot of adventures together. It will be interesting to see when he actually meets the past version of her.
Amusing ep of Swingtown last night. So the chick who made the play isn't the teacher's girlfriend? And what's with Laurie being all, "I didn't want to write a review because the play totally sucked and I didn't think lambasting the teacher's gf would get me a higher letter grade"? That's a bit overly frank. Way to sound totally jealous. But yeah, I'm curious if she really is just a friend, or if he was just saying that because its totally obvious his student wants to do him? Pervert! And do I really have the right to call people perverts?
I get that Rick is sad because he feels he's being left behind, but talk about totally cock blocking BJ! I mean, way to make him look bad in front of the cute girl next door he likes. Though seriously, what is up with BJ's obsession with her? I mean, first spending his savings to get her all that camping gear last week, now trying to give her all the proceeds from the dirty magazine sale so she can fix her bike? He's being too nice, if I were her I'd be totally freaked out. He hardly knows her but he's doing all that. But getting back to the dirty mag sales, way to get caught! I'm sure Roger wouldn't have said anything, but they had like five friggin' minutes to hide the magazine real quick before Janet saw what was going on. Dumb-asses! But of course, if they didn't get caught, we wouldn't have seen Roger and Bruce hilariously try to tell their sons why looking at dirty mags isn't good.
And seriously, Bruce and Susan are all over the place. I think I believe Bruce when all that was going on between him and lawyer chick and therapist guy was that he was trying to make new friends. But apparently he has a thing for Trina? I guess she's the only other woman he's ever been with, and that's after being married to Susan for almost 18 years, so that would be totally weird. But he did seem a little too friendly with the lawyer chick, but then again, so did Susan. So its like, do they want to be swinging or not? But hoo boy, was Roger pissed when he found out. Of course, you know its because he's totally jealous because he totally wants to get with Susan.
But yeah, how deliciously awkward was the party when the Deckers showed up with all the new folks and Janet and the old guard looking all aghast when Trina suggested that dirty fondue game. They seemed to get friendlier, with Janet finding out fondue isn't too bad, and Trina looking through the scrapbook, I'm sure there's a part of her that envies the simpler, goody goody life Janet lives and Susan used to. But then Roger gets pissed over the fact that someone else got to do Susan, and the unflattering doodle someone made of Janet on the wall. So they're right back where they were.
