May. 30th, 2008 07:50 amOwel, back at work after being sick the last couple of days. Feeling better now though.
TV commentary:
The repeat of the first hour of the season finale had an extended version of the conference with the reporters where the Oceanic 6 answer questions. They reveal who the other three where- Boone, Libby, and Charlie. That's random! Actually, not really, because I just realized those are the only three who were alive on the plane that died and reappeared again in visions the other characters had. (Boone to Locke, Libby to Michael, and Charlie to Hurley) Claire doesn't count because we're not sure she's dead and her appearence to Kate doesn't happen until after that ep. But I digress. Coincidence that they chose those three?
Anyways in the last two hours of the season finale, we finally see them get off the island! Ben getting taken by Keamy and his men was kinda anti-climactic, because as soon as they asv('Get to the Choppa!') Kate runs up to set up a trap where Richard and the Others take out Keamy's men, and then Sayid and Keamy have a pretty cool fight where they think they kill Keamy, but apparently he was wearing body armor. Unfortunately in the fire fight, the chopper gets nicked and starts leaking fuel, but they don't notice this until later.
Anyhoo, the Losties are free to go, and Ben and Locke descend into the Orchid, which apparently contains a machine that can send things forward in time. But you're not supposed to put anything metal in it. But what does Ben do? Put everything metal he can find into it! HA!
Back up top, Lapidus takes off with Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, and Sayid, and they head to the freighter. Speaking of, Michael, Jin, and Desmond are trying to figure out how to defuse the bomb, but Desmond's limited EOD training is not enough. Michael comes up with the idea to freeze the battery so when the signal does come, the bomb won't blow up just yet. (Just like in the series finale of another JJ Abrams show, Alias!) The signal does end up coming, as Keamy descends into the Orchid, and despite explaining the arm device is a heart monitor that is set to send a signal to blow up the bomb once his heart stops, Ben kills Keamy in a rage for killing Alex. Locke is all, why did you do that? But of course, why the hell would Ben care what happened to the boat?
At the beach, Faraday thinks Charlotte and him to be on this next run to the boat (does he know what's going to happen?) as it will be the last. But both Miles and Charlotte have decided to stay. Miles intimates he knows Charlotte's secret, that she wants to stay because this is where she's from. People have been guessing Charlotte is Annie, but I forgot when she first landed, she met Ben. And Ben knew about her. If she really was Annie, she'd have to have a pretty thorough new identity to fool Ben and his people, since they seem to know everything. And the ages don't match up. And they don't act like they know each other.
So the chopper is leaking gas, so Sawyer ditches and swims back to shore to save enough weight for them to get to the boat. Only the chopper gets to the boat right after Keamy dies, so the boaties are all abuzz trying to get off. The chopper re-fuels and takes everyone on it before plus Sun, Aaron, and Desmond. Jin stays with Michael to try and help until Michael finally tells him, "dude, you're about to be a father!" Hmm, I wonder if Michael wasn't as worried because of his Island granted invincibility? But that's soon taken away, when Christian appears to Michael after the last of the liquid nitrogen is gone and tells him, "you can go now". Jin was on his way up to the deck, but Lapidus had taken off. Sun watches in horror as the boat blows up with her hubby still on board! So he is dead! I thought so! Of course, we don't see his body, so mebbe he'll wash ashore safe and sound. At the very least though, Sun thinks he's dead, which is what I've been saying all along.
Heh, Sawyer swims ashore to find Juliet getting drunk. Why? She points the flaming wreckage of the freighter to him. He is of course terribly vexed over the whole thing.
Owel, putting the metal in the time jumper thing blows a hole in the back of it, which Ben goes through to descend into an icy chamber with some big wheel that he turns to move the island. Ben tells Locke he had to be the one to move the island because whoever does can never return. He sends Locke to the others who I guess see him as their new leader? But Ben turns the wheel, disappears, and he was wearing the Halliwax coat and had cut his arm descending into the chamber, so we know right after moving the island, he's transported to Tunisia. But ha, Lapidus is trying to fly the chopper back to the island since they only got enough fuel to fly back, only the island disappears from under them!
Faraday was on the zodiac ferrying some people somewhere, not sure which direction they'd be going since if Juliet could see the freighter wreck from the beach, Daniel should see it also. But we don't know what happens to him and the people with him, like where they shunted along with the island?
So the chopper crashes, end up in a life boat and they get picked up... by Penny! So Desmond and Penny are reunited, and Jack says they have to lie to protect those on the island. And thus the lie of the Oceanic 6 is born. So Oceanic isn't in on it as someone had guessed. I guess they got Penny to use her resources to help.
The flashforwards are mostly about the Losties talking about some crazy guy named Jeremy Bentham who said they needed to get back on the island. He was the guy in the coffin at the end of last season. Heh, the first flashforward is like two seconds after the first flash forward at the end of last season, with Kate driving off. Only she brakes suddenly to ream Jack about wanting to go back to the island. Really tall Walt has his Grandmother take him to see Hurley, and they mention the Jeremy guy approaching them and telling them to go back to the island. We get a clue Jeremy is someone we know when Walt is all, "Why are you calling him Jeremy, his name is.." and Hurley hushing him.
Sayid kills some guy waiting outside the insane asylum and tells Hurley he's there to get him out of there. Sun visits Widmore wanting to throw her lot in with him. Kate has a dream where she sees Claire in her house watching over Aaron all, "Don't you dare take him back to the island!" And drunk Jack breaks into the funeral parlor to open the coffin, and is met by Ben, who says a bunch of bad stuff happened on the island and they need to go back. Everyone (does that include Walt?), including the guy in coffin. Who is Locke!!
Got to see the season finale of Reaper the other day.
So Sam learns he might be the devil's son. The rebels try to lock him in some mystical cage. His dad (the one he grew up with, not the devil) tries to help him, but they throw him in the cage too. At the last minute, Tony saves Sam as Steve (who apparently went to Heaven?) had been appearing to Sam in visions and told Sam to mention Cancun. (Which they thought was like heaven) Sam's dad ends up getting buried though. Sam is sad at the supposed death of his dad and worried that his real dad might be the devil. In the end, his mom digs the dad out and he's all, "What took you so long?" So possibly fake dad is not human either?
The succubus girl was okay. She's kinda cute. Sock was on a break with Josie, but succumbs to succubus girl. Kissing her takes a year off his life, but also gives him demon strength. Which he uses to take out the soul of the week (played by Jen from Edgemont!). They decide to hook up once a year, but Sock ruins it by telling Ben, who wants a taste, so when he mentions bringing Ben in, she's all offended! What kind of succubus is she?!
I also forgot I could watch NCIS online.
So the big death was Jenny. I thought that's who it was gonna be, since they said she had some terminal disease. But she ends up eating it in a shootout with some thugs sent to kill her by some chick she failed to kill in the mysterious Paris mission they often reference. Tony is totally guilty because even though the director told them to take the day off and was totally hiding from him and Ziva, Ziva was telling him they shoulda checked up on the director. But he didn't think there was a threat.
In the end, the chick confronts Gibbs at Jenny's house, and Franks kills her. They torch the place and cover everything up, making it look like Jenny died in the fire. That one assistant director guy is director now, and he was kinda pissed at how things turned out, so he breaks up the team, sending Ziva home, Mcgee to Cybercrimes, and Tony to be a shipboard agent and gives Gibbs a new team. Wait, will he really have a new team next year, or will it be like House where the rest of them will end up still being around somehow?
