Wait, watching the critic's choice of the best movies of 2007 on VH-1, for some reason they had a commercial for the latest Bring it On movie. So the two cheerleading squads are called the Jets and the Sharks? Geez, does the demographic for that movie even know what West Side Story is?

Just here at work, and someone left a bunch of jelly belly jelly beans. Dammit, don't people know that's like crack to me? And gobbling down several handfuls of jelly beans isn't exactly healthy. But ah can't stop!

TV Commentary:

Something I wanted to say about Monday's Journeyman: Isn't it extremely rude for Katie's sister to tell her that Jack's gf is pregnant? If Jack wanted Katie to know, he would've told her himself! Hey, I spread gossip, but only to people not in the circle of said secret! Given Katie and Jack's past relationship and the whole child thing being an issue, I think its totally ccv('Inappropriate!')

On Gossip Girl, its Christmas on the UES. Though isn't an all girl jailbait choir entertaining people at a school function with a rendition of "Santa Baby" kinda ccv('Inappropriate!')? That's kinda racy for a bunch of 15 year olds! Anyways, GG commentary, Where to start? Because she is awesome and hott, let's start with Blair. Damn, she's always mad cute, whether she's scheming, or all sad about yet another thing not going right in her life. She's all happy about her father coming for Christmas, and tells S her plan to get her dad to stay in NYC. She's all happy and hopeful her plan will work, and you know that's never good for her since one of the recurring themes of Gossip Girl is when Blair is this happy about something, something will happen to kick her down.

And what happens? Her dad bring his gay boyfriend (who was apparently was good friends with B's mom for years) and reveals he bought a villa in France with him, crushing B's plans to get him to come back to NY. Also, Chuck breaking contact has her freaked that he's going to tell Nate about their little fling. Truthfully, I don't think he would. He kept quiet on the whole Nate/Serena thing. And I think he thinks he's in love with Blair, and even he recognizes if he screws her over like that, then there really is no chance to get her. But ha, he gets point for his deliciously cruel barb, "How did you fake having your virginity for him?" HA!

In the end, its her mom(!) who fixes things, because she's apparently aware enough to recognize Blair's scheme to invite over Roman's ex to throw a monkeywrench in her dad's relationship was because she was jealous and wanted her dad back for herself. Of course, her dad loved both his bf and her a lot, and brought him in the hopes that they would hit it off, not realizing you can't just throw them together like that and hope that it would work out that quickly. But he makes up for it by getting Blair a bedroom in the new Villa that she can stay in whenever, and a snowed in airport strands him and Roman in NY to make for a nice familial Christmas for the Waldorfs.

And to show she's not a total heartless ice-queen bitch, even the maid was around the tree, getting an expensive new cell from Queen B. The ep also showed that while she can be a vicious and ruthless to her enemies, she's an extremely loyal friend. I mean, the beginning of the season, one can say she was a bitch to Serena, but in her mind, S had betrayed her, first by abandoning her in her time of need, and then because Serena slept with Nate. But now that they're friends again, it was awesome when she immediately noticed Vanessa clearly still has a thing for Dan and took her aside saying she'll be watching Serena's back.

In the Dan/Serena part of the story, Vanessa's x-mas gift for Dan is that she stole one of his short stories (apparently about the time he first met and fell in love with Serena) and submitted it to the New Yorker, where it won some contest and was getting published. So Serena wants to get him a really good gift also. She starts out by getting him an expensive watch. There seems to be a lot of controversy on the forums about this. I'm on the side that feels Dan was kinda rude about the gift. Yeah, I can see some people feeling an expensive like that is inappropriate, since he can't afford nearly as good a gift to give her. I think you can still graciously accept it, at least, jerk!

One, she's a rich girl, so she's used to giving expensive gifts, but I don't think she was expecting something expensive in return. Two, its not like she just thought, "Oh, I'll just get him something expensive!" After seeing V's thoughtful gift, I think she was intimidated and honestly had no idea what to get him. Her reasoning behind it was thoughtful, she saw he didn't have a watch, and tried tying it in to V's gift by being all, "You'll need one to keep up with all the interview offers pouring in from publishers and wot-not". So its not like she saw something "expensive and pretty", assumed everyone likes things that are expensive and pretty and got it for him because of that. She did put some thought into it. Its not her fault that a good watch is also expensive!

Anyways, Dan imposes a $50 spending limit. Again, Serena did find a bunch of really thoughful gifts, but nothing for under $50. So she enlists V's help. He was all sad about it not snowing, so they decorate a place with paper snowflakes and make a snow machine. After they're done, Vanessa takes her leave, but not before looking all sad and wistful at the girl with the boy she loves. Meanwhile, Dan, with help from little J and Lily, sneak a Christmas tree into Serena's hotel room to make it a little more homier for Christmas. After he's done with that, he meets with Serena, and is so touched by her gift, that they totally do it. Heh, if you count that at as her gift to him, so a frak with her is worth less than $50? Also, I half expected them to pan away from them doing it to see creepy stalker Vanessa hiding in the corner watching, since she always seems to be skulking around, and apparently has no respect for boundaries.

As for the rest of the Humphreys, Rufus is all mad when they find a card from neighbor guy telling Allison to meet him on Dec 24th. Allison says its over and she doesn't know why the guy sent it, but Rufus sneaks off and keeps the date, threatening the guy. Neighbor guy tells him Allison called him the other day, and she didn't say things were over. Rufus is pissed, but he'd have more of a leg to stand on if he didn't recently make overtures towards Lily himself.

Anyways, Rufus and Allison realize that things aren't working out, and ignoring Lily and neighbor guy wouldn't suddenly fix things. So they give their kids the gift of divorce for Christmas! Ha, how deliciously cruel!

But before they drop that bomb, but after they decide its over, Rufus gives Lily a call during the Waldorf Christmas party, but can't find the words to say. Though Lily's clear she has a few words in mind, but when he can't she then tells him she's leaving with Bart Bass for the holidays. The next morning, when Dan tells him Lily's still in town, he walks over to her hotel in the freezing snow without a jacket and leaves a voicemail saying how he misses her and how he's downstairs. Unfortunately, its going to voicemail because Bart is busy proposing to her in front of Serena and Eric, who only recently found out their mom was dating him. And the ep ends on the whole, will Lily choose Bart or Rufus? Argh!! Kudos to the show for making me as interested in the adults' relationships as much as the teens.

I'm still holding out for Dan/Blair one day!

VH-1's showing the 100 greatest songs of the 90s right now, tonight's ep is 60-40. Ah, its always fun reminscing about these old songs.

Oh, I've also been watching that Duel show in ABC. I think one of the big problems is that the contestants are a little too conservative. I mean, there are times where they'll cover all four slots when they're not sure, and while that was fine a couple of times, there were others when they could've easily eliminated a couple of those choices because they were obviously wrong. Particularly the ones where its a number of things question. You don't have to know it exactly, but a lot of times, you can just start going over it in your head, and can eliminate some of the choices simply because there are more of X than some of the choices! You're just wasting chips!

Oh, and a commercial for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune just came on, which reminds me of another thing I liked about the game from the demo. As I said, I like the cover system- I think the reason I've sucked at FPS is because I'm not actually good at running and gunning. My forte has always been at sniping and marksmanship. So, hiding, then quickly popping out and popping them in the head or a triple tap to the chest is much easier for me than the shooting and moving. I also like how the game will show you the arc the grenade will go when you throw it. I've always had problems in other games with grenades because I eyeball the arcs wrong. Its especially cool with the cover system, just stick behind cover, and if there are a bunch of enemies behind cover as well, just lob a grenade. Unfortunately, the enemies can do that to, making it exciting when they toss a grenade at you (they do a beeping countdown indicating they're about to blow up), so you're like, "Oh crap!" and have to run for another piece of cover.

I also like their clever use of the sixaxis- since there's a lot of jumping puzzles, tomb-raider style, there are times where you're having to navigate thin logs or planks. So you use the motion sensor of the control to keep your balance. Like if you're tilting right, you have to lean the controller left and balance yourself on the beam. Clever.
