Last night over dinner with the usual suspects, talking about Heroes, someone brought up with the Writer's Strike still on, we should become scabs and send our own ideas for scripts. Somehow, the idea of a sitcom with Noah raising both Claire and Elle came up. Hey, retired spy tries to raise two young and nubile polar opposite daughters? Its no Lana Lang/Kara Zor El Bubble Bath hour, but it smells like a winner! Especially if Claire and Elle end each ep learning a valuable life lesson, and then have a pillow fight in their undies... with sexy results! The show should have them tussle a little more. In bikinis. In a tub of jello. Hey, they have like Peter and Sylar going around shirtless and a lot of the male interaction lends itself to slash-ful thoughts. There needs to be hot lesbo action to even things out!

Anyways, last night's Gossip Girl was about the debutante ball. ND was over while I was watching, and didn't know the whole debutante thing and learning to cotillion dance and all that jazz actually happened. He thought it was just something that happens on TV shows. As I've said before, I can say from experience that it still does (as can [livejournal.com profile] isabel79 and [livejournal.com profile] 7500centfish). Anyways, spoiler commentary:

We meet Serena's grandmother, who I think could give Emily Gilmore a run for her money in a condescending bitchiness contest. Serena doesn't want to do the deb ball at first, and even Lily supports it. But grams is all, "I have cancer, and I want to see Serena debut!" so she decides to do it. Of course, grams is none to pleased when she learns Serena is her bf, and gives him an incredibly bitchy speech about how he'll never fit in the UES and it'll all just end badly, so why not break up now? Dan was originally not going to be her escort since his mom's art show is on the same night, but after hearing that, is all, "I'm going to be escorting Serena now!"

So she tries to buy Rufus off by offering to buy his wife's paintings for a large sum, and reveals that she threatened Lily's trust fund long ago, and that's why she left him. Rufus tells this to Dan, and the day of, Dan tries to convince Serena her Grandma is an extremely manipulative bitch. Serena's all, "That's my grandma" and tells him she won't be needing him as an escort. Cue grandma to immediately come up and offer Carter (the punk who tried to fleece Nathan at the card game all those eps ago) as a date. Things don't go as planned and Serena sees her grandma for the manipulative bitch she is. Oh, and we find out Serena and Carter had frakked once a long time ago, when she was still a drunken slut.

Lily, having seen the improvement in her daughter since she started dating Dan and how they are together, takes Dan aside and finally gives her blessing on the relationship. Then Rufus gives her a call saying he heard about the trust fund thing and she's all she was stupid and if she had to do it over again, she would've made a different choice and he's all, if he knew she left because her mother gave her that ultimatum and not because she loved someone else, he would've fought harder to keep her.

So the above is actually the first reason I feel sorry for Allison in this ep. Also, Dan and Serena must make her think of Rufus and Lily whenever she sees them together. Another reason to feel sorry for Allison? Little J seems to prefer Lily and the UES life to her mom's ways. Jenny wants to volunteer at the Deb ball, but her parents all, they all have to be at the art show for her mother. She grounds Jenny when she catches Lily and Jenny hanging out at a fancy store and Lily brings up that j is still volunteering. Heh, and I think Allison was in that store because j was complaining about the thrift store shoes her mom got her and how all the cool kids have some expensive shoe, and Allison decided she was going to get them for her.

But when she hears Dan's going, she sneaks to it also, and gets back into Blair's good graces when she fixes her dress, which was ripped when Nate punched out Carter. (But more on that later). so, she misses her mom's art show and her mom's disappointed and is all, "Do you like what you're becoming?"

Anyways, for some reason Nate is back into Blair (well, obviously, because she's hot). Anyways, this doesn't work for Chuck, since Blair and him have started seeing each other secretly. But Nate offers to be her escort as friends, and she happily accepts. Heh, Nate suspects Blair of seeing someone and Chuck needs to find out who. So he claims its Carter, and stirs shit up causing the aforementioned punch out. It doesn't have its intended effect though once she figures out the whole outburst was caused by Chuck and breaks it off. Heh, I was thinking to myself, "Be careful Blair, he might try to rape you now!"

Anyways, she runs to Nate, who's still oblivious to the whole Chuck and Blair thing, and as they're making out he gives a "Dude, I'm about to get some" grin to Chuck as he and Blair slink off to do it. (Which is totally unlike Nate, him emote?! Its a replicant mandroid!) So Chuck flies off to parts unknown.
